It's a Winchester 1300. Compared to Mossbergs and Remingtons, there are damned few Winchester 1300s sold.

The Remington 870 is the hands-down favorite pump shotgun for US law enforcement. The Mossberg 500/590 has for a long time been used by the US military, and is also a favorite with budget-minded civilians.

Winchester/FN is a small player in this market by comparison. We make some parts for the Winchester 1300 and sell very few of them.

the FP6 still has my vote...

I personally love my fp6..... Even more when I found out who REALLY makes them! The only thing I kinda dislike about them, is that since they are all hybrid materials, it's not the recoil that bothers me, it's the vibration levels from the damn thing..... I can friggen feel my teeth chatter when run heavier slugs through it.

Oh, and BTW, that's the tactical, entry model in the pics, I think it has the 10 inch barrel.

I did not hear that they were discontinued..... but if FABARM stops making them, then thats what I'd believe.... just 'cause HK takes their name off them, doesn't mean squat about manufacturing...... since they were under license... and the contract probably ended, and no one wanted to renew it, (HK has a history with this kinda thing and shotguns)

jessegpresley, the FN TPS Tactical Police Shotgun looks tricked out but in reality a cheaper shotgun like a Remington or a Mossburg will shoot better. The car stock on the FN TPS is uncomfortable and harsh recoil when shooting and effects your follow up shot. Therefore the higher priced FN TPS Tactical Police Shotgun gives you less performance than a cheaper Remington or Mossburg. So in essence you are paying more money for the tricked out look.

If the FN TPS Tactical Police Shotgun was $400 or less, I think more people would buy it for its cool tactical look.

FN TPS with slugs hits the shoulder hard. I'm currently looking for a pad for the CAR stock.

Also, any problems with a follow-up shot due to recoil are mitigated by a very nice halo sight.

You guys now get me wanted to buy this FN TPS!!!!!!!

I never had a shotgun.... and I was looking into getting a 870 or a M500....
but now.... this TPS w/ C-more is VERY attractive!!!

One of the MOST attractive thing is that all my newly acquired AR-toys can be mounted onto this TPS!!! So, I can switch the scopes around, I can switch the buttstock and pistolgrip around too!!!

I don't regard the FN TPS as the Ferrarri of pumps because it is basically a Winchester 1300. More like a V8 Chevy with some kick.

If you check on shotgun forums most users say the FN TPS will tear up your shoulder with out a rubber pad:

Yes, kind of similar.

I just wanted a "reliable" (read pump) scatter gun, I chose this for the purpose of 3 gunning and HD (just in case the auto became problematic).

This thread has already revealed a good amount of info on the TPS, so I'll only give my impression.

1. nice halo sight and iron sights
2. good thick barrel with (IC choke ?) front sight makes mounting a breeching device a machinist task. http://www.hunt101.com/showphoto.php...t=7&thecat=500
3. I don't think it fits well with a A2 or M4 stock. The TPS forces you to pull your cheek down to the stock to get a sight picture through the irons, it feels akward. The 1014 lifts into place naturaly and neutral, with the stock in your shoulder your sight pic is instant. Also the TPS has a light rear as far as balance goes. I would like to replace/modify the stock so as to make it easier to aim.

I know comparing the two is apples and oranges, but I think a gun should feel good as well as shoot good.

Does an ACE ARFX stock with rubber pad help out the balance issue and recoil on a FN TPS?
