Allthough I wouldn't call myself the shotty police, it sounds like a wannabe gangbanger or videogamer to me when I hear people use it. It is IMHO just a perception thing. Everyone here knows what you are referring to. Heck we know what your refering to if you just mention a model number.

ga-RAND or GAIR-und and clip or magazine don't sound nearly as uneducated. Well to me at least. Ok clip is close but... Since my ga-Rand takes clips it is abit more acceptable to my delicate ears....

It was a neat idea and the -best- part is the bullpup design that allows you to shoulder a 28" OAL shotgun. That said, if they put some low profile sights on it, not freakin' AR sights and did away with one of the tubes, then sold them for around $350... Well maybe then I would be interested. Eh, shotty. Heh.
It's not negated when compared to any other shotgun on the market where after 7+1 rounds the user has to remember to rack the slide back, throw a shell into the chamber, rack the slide forward, then slide 7 more rounds one at a time into the bottom of the gun. Think of it like a magazine change rather than a purposeless switch and racking of the slide.

Seems like a lot of cash to pay for an unproven product... A Remington 870 tactical with a Blackhawk stock AND a glock for your belt are cheaper.

Really? With my 870 I can easily and quickly top off the tube as it gets low and without having to rack the slide. If you exercise a modicum of fire control it never runs out.

I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

The same can be done with the KSG. My comment was more directed to the person who stated that the entire extra 7 rounds was negated by having to switch magazines.

Yep, this here. Blackhawk foregrip and knoxx buttstock, and Glock.

I likes the looks of ksg but as far as terms go I prefer "scattergun"...

Sorry. You are correct. That those seven rounds are not negated is why the gun is not legal in CA. As for doing the same with the KSG, I doubt it. Do to the location of the feeding port so far aft I believe it would be possible but exceedingly difficult to top the tube(s) off while keeping the gun trained on the threat.

Because the people that use "shotty" are the same ones who learned gun safety from Modern Warfare, Halo, or Call of Duty. You know...the ones with the flat-billed baseball caps who keep sweeping you with their muzzle when they are un-bagging their gun at the range.

Modern Warfare is Call of Duty

On topic: Could care less if people say shotty. I personally think it sounds lame, but if you like it go for it.

So we're using stereotypes to validate childish snobbery over the use of a word? Just want to be clear.

Because it's pretty embarrassing how some otherwise knowledgeable members turn into snickering snarky schoolgirls everytime the word gets mentioned. Enough to derail a thread.

                            Really?
