What are you planning on using it for? Hunting (what kind), trap, sporting clays, skeet, home defense or just going out to the desert and blasting stuff? The fact is that your gun will work just fine for the purposes it was intended for. It will not depreciate any more than an 870 will. It won't break or wear out any faster than an 870 either. If you are happy with it and it is designed to do what you want to do with it, it's a fine purchase.

i'll be using it for plinking (destroying old washers) lol. thanks for the info worried that i wasted $250 for a minute! And yes its at least 100 cheaper than an 870 i think, well at least at Wild Bills it is.

Its kind of like the guys who say you can't hurt someone with a 9mm. When I ask them if we can test that theory on them, could they please move seven yards back and let someone empty a mag into them...no one seems to stand by their claims. Perhaps your friends may be given the same challenge about your new shotgun.

Its a simple rhetorical challenge only to put an end to the absolute BS emanating from their minds. I would never do such a thing, but it tends to stop the absurd discussion quickly.

From What I've been reading about the Hawk 982 is that it is a good shotgun. Haven't shot one, but, if its anything close to the 870 it'll be a blast to have around.

its a norinco reproduction of a remington 870. it probably functions exactly like a remington 870. most of the 870 aftermarket will work with it.

How about you keep the public updated as to the shotgun's use and abuse you put it through? You are paying (paid?) about $40 less than bone stock 870s go for on a good day. Shooting old washers sounds like fun, enjoy.

I have shot one, side by side with my 870. I was impressed from the first shot. Anything you can put on an 870, will fit with the 982. I like the sight much better than the bead on the 870. I have a knox folder on the 870 so I decided to upgrade the 982 by putting the 870 stock that came with the 870. Nope, side by side I like the thicker heavier Chinese stock.
You did fine with your purchase. Now dress it up with a recoil reducing stock, lol.

Hawk 982 is a clone of the 870, but i've shot my friends, it's alright, a bit heavier to me when i handled it. but it's ok, but I would of saved up to buy a real 870 or bought a used one (just as good!)

i just got back from Big5 to pick up some .22LR ammo, and saw the Interstate 982 for sale there for $199.

Checked it out, looked it up and down, racked the slide a few times.

A lot heavier than my 590 with a longer barrel and mag tube, (mossy has a aluminum receiver) and the slide seemed pretty stiff.

but again, so did the 590 when i bought it.

in retrospect, i think maybe i should have bought the norinco 982 instead of the 590. about $150 cheaper, and has more aftermarket and much better sights.

the sights on my 590 are simple front bead. i tried to find the oem 590 ghost rings but they are always on backorder.

good job on the choice there

i think i should have gone with it instead if only i knew

I've written up my ongoing adventures as I learn to hunt.

Yes, you CAN fit a case of shotgun shells into a .50cal ammo can.

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling.

I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest.
