    Big 5 shotgun

Has anyone seen the Big 5 sale on the "Escort MP-2" 12 gauge? It's for $299.99, the sale starts tomorrow. Is this a good deal? How's this one compared to the Mossberg they always have on sale?
    Thanks.

I bought one yesterday. The sale acually ends today it said. (17th - 20th) but I'm sure they will price match after the sale.

Been doing lots of research and the reading up on the escort, even though low priced and made in turkey people have shot thousands of rounds flawlesly. I usually don't buy cheap stuff, but inspecting it, it sure looked nicley made and on par with my mossberg.

Has lots of good features so I won't have to do any mods. Only 10 more days til I can test it.

I bought an 8 shot mossberg 500 at big five for just over 300 out the door. I would rather have a mossberg and buy American in this situation. But to each his own.

I saw that they have an auto version for $379.99 plus tax etc
I'm gonna take a look at that.

Id say spend a bit more for a mossberg 590 or go with the auto version.

The Escort MP-S/A had a good write-up in Guns & Weapons. I was thinking of getting one for a back-up shotgun for an up coming Front Sight class.

don't forget tax. The sale priced 289$ mossberg 8 shots are the plain Jane ones, no sights, old school stock. Just real simple.

That's why I was saying 299$ for the escort that had good reviews is a good price, comes with all the bells and whistles that would cost couple hundred bucks to upgrade on a mossberg

I too would love to buy amercan made guns, but really, how many guns are even made in America these days?

I posted a link to a review on the auto version. Apparently the guy who reviewed it, said it kept not feeding bird shot or any lower recoiled ammo. All the 00 buck ran good though

Meh, after reading this thread, I went to Big 5 and bought the MP-A S/A. Seemed pretty sturdy, we'll have to see. Doesn't come with an extended magazine or a flash suppressor. I'll have to see where I can get those.

Was the flash suppressor attached, or in the box, or MIA? Mine just had the thread cap on it, and I didn't get to dig around in the box.

I bought one today (MP-A) The FS was in the box.
This seems like a heck of a bargain The reviews I have seen (Thanks INK )
helped make up my mind. The first I'd even heard of this brand was today's Big 5 ad and now I'm 9.75 days away from possessing one. it seems each store was only given one MP-And they were selling fast today. I had to try 3 Big 5's before I got lucky

Ah the wonders of the internet. Where else can you just hear about something, find multiple reviews, find the best price and be able to make a (semi) informed decision in an hour or so.

ps I am not too concerned about its performance with WalMart bargain ammo
My11-87 couldn't cycle anything below 3 1/4 drams of powder and my M1 S90 can be a little finicky too, so I'll just stick with Game loads.

All those buying from Big 5, hope you guys used the $10 off $50 coupon that was available. I picked up the Mossberg 500 Field/Security Combo for $280+tax+DROS. 8 days left til I pick it up!

I found this for an extended magazine, the pic of it looked pretty good:

Folks, I recently purchased an Escort MP-A and really like it. I saw some questions concerning where to get a magazine extension tube for the Escort since Hatsan does not offer one. I added a TacStar 7 Round Extension Tube made to fit the Benelli Nova/SuperNova. The threads are the same and once you scew it all the way down, there is only one thread exposed which I covered with a number 18 O-ring. This O-ring not only covers the remaining thread but allows the extension to screw on tightly and wont loosen up during shooting. Snug the O-ring down over the threads on the gun before screwing on the extension. You can also use the original spring that came with the gun or the one supplied by TacStar. I would think that any after-market mag extension tube made to fit the Benelli Nova would also work on the Escort, but I know the TacStar woks fine. I purchased the TacStar at Gander Mountain for $49.99 and picked up a 10 pack of O-rings by Danco at Home Depot for $2.35. Although there are similarities between the Escort and the Remingtom 870, the Remington Extension Tubes don't work on the Escort because the cap is too short to cover the cap threads on the gun.
This guy seems to make flash suppresors and door entry stuff for them:
