Just bought the Browning Citori Lighting! Need a case!

SKB would be my choice unless you want a Pelican/Storm. SKB is probably a bit more discrete as they make cases for musical instruments as well so they don't scream Military.

My Citori sits in a Browning case. It was made for it and protects it perfectly.

Buds Gun SHop online has the hard case by Browning for $154.00, shipped, no tax to calif. Nice case and fits all their O/U's. Same deal at Cheaper Than Dirt online. Thats where I got mine.

Hi OP, How's your Citori working out? What did you end up choosing for a case?

Sorry to revive this old thread but I just purchased a Citori as well and am now shopping cases.

Title says it all!

I went to Turners in FV and bought the Browning Citori Lighting they had on sale yesterday! So stoked! Cant wait to get it!!!

I was talking to the salesman and he said it comes in a cardboard box! So I am in need of a case! I looked on the Browning website and they are well over $200 for a nice hard case! I got to thinking I might as well buy a Pelican case for that price! Any downsides to the Pelican case for the Shotgun?

Can anyone help me out with maybe where to buy a nice, hard shotgun case?? Or maybe someone knows a place to get a decent deal on a Pelican?

I bought a plano like the other poster suggested. I paid about 30.00 its nothing fancy but its lockable and not badly made.

I take my non-tubed O/U in a regular soft case when I go to the range. I only use a hardcase if I take the tubed guns out. The averge price of my soft cases ... $15!

Hardcases are Americase X 4. I just don't like dragging them anchors around everytime I go shooting.

I was going to spring for one of the less expensive Browning cases, but a guy with a K gun told me how he prefers a soft padded case so he doesn't have to break his gun down when leaving the range to reassemble it when he next shoots. I located a place where I can get a Boyt for about $95 and both Cabela's and Bass Pro have Boyt knock offs for about $80. Then again, I guess a $15 case does the trick.

The only reason to use a hardcase going to the range is if you're gonna dropping something hard on the gun. If you drop something on the gun then no soft case would help ya, Boyt or not!! So I just get whatever is available to stick the gun in!!

I have the SKB hard case for my trap combo, it has a seperate slot for my unsingle barrel. I love the hard case, it wasn't cheap, but its safe to fly with, I have used it as a halfass stool, I stood on it a few times to reach stuff, and I know my shotgun is always protected. My girlfriend's shotgun sits in a Browning hard case, it came with her gun (Browning XS Skeet) and luckily fits with the adjustable comb and stock. The problem is, the case sucks, and now I have to find another case out there that will either hold both of our shotguns, or one that fits hers and just keep my SKB case. Either way, unless you plan to travel with it, there isn't really a need for a heavy duty case. At most of the trap/skeep ranges I've been to, they are fine with you walking up from your car/truck with the shotgun in hand (action open, gun unloaded of course) and have racks to put your gun. Either way, good luck, hope you find what you are looking for!

The case is a very personal thing. I prefer the soft takedown cases; light, protective and easy to throw in the car. The only thing I would strongly suggest is to be certain it has a pocket for your chokes, etc. Go on ebay, there is every conceivable type and price.

I've narrowed my choices down a bit. I like the Boyt soft case because it would be very convenient to not have to break down the gun every time I go somewhere. However living in SF I don't really feel comfortable with people seeing me come and go from my house with what is obviously a gun case. So at the moment I am leaning toward the motor case or the SKB case that bug_eyedmonster mentioned.

Build your own case out of oak or some other hardwood and line it with felt. That is what I did and it looks great! And breaking down a Browning is easier than tying your shoe for those bloaks that don't have one.

Break down the gun and use a O/U gun sock and then wrap in some towels to keep from scratching. Put them in a duffle bag and no one would know!! SKB or other gun cases will be known to thieves that know guns. This will be the safest way to travel in and out of your hood!!
