    Mossberg 500 Persuader Model #50521

So I was saving up for a Beretta 92FS M9A1 and was about halfway there when my Gun Guy decided to throw out a sale on some Mossberg shotguns. I took a quick count and came back with Seven 12 gauge shotguns and an assortment of other calibers scattered throughout the house and safe and told him no thanks...

Today after work I went to see him and ended up filling out the DROS for a Mossberg 500 Persuader Model #50521 12 Gauge.

In the mail already is a NcStar Shotgun Scabbard, Hogue Stock Tamer Shotgun Pistol Grip, UTG Weaver Picatinny Style Tactical Low Profile Mount, and a few other odds and ends...

Figured I would Home Defense this one up to its gills since all the others are set up for hunting, cheap Savage models, or just old family hand me downs and such...

Pictures once I pick it up in ten days...

Question though for any who may have one... How much of a pain in the *** is the forend to get off and does anyone know if the forend tube is 6-3/4" long or longer?

P.s. Please don't try to get me to buy a "Tacticool Heat Shield" for the barrel, cause I will just laugh myself into a fit of hysterics...

Picked it up today! Added the Hogue Tamer Overmolded Pistol Grip and Uncle Mike's Magazine Cap Super Swivels as well as a Blackhawk Sling (which I don't recommend)...

i used to have a persuader, which i sold in lieu of a Win 1300 defender. both are good guns but i liked the way the winchester handled better. anyhow, i highly recommend just buying a forend tool. i got one on ebay for like 9 bucks or something and it's priceless. with creative tool use, you can get your forend nut off, but getting it back on is another story. i did install a surefire forend on my mossberg without the tool, but i'll be damned if i remember how. when i got my defender, i just sucked it up and bought the tool and i'm glad i did. as for the forend tube length, i'm not sure but i don't think it'd be any longer than 6-3/4. what kind of forend are you considering putting on it?

The Hogue Overmolded Forend to match the pistol grip.

So it might look a little something like this in the end

I am a week away from changing the forend to an Ultimate Arms and adding a Limbsaver.

You'll laugh at the idea of a heat shield but you want a scabbard, utg "tactical" mount and pistol grip?
So um... moon labia or something.

Nice, yes indeedy. I may end up going the collapsible buttstock and side saddle way in the future but for now it will stay normal pistol grip and sling.

I loath heat shields. They look ridiculous and don't offer anything of value.

Sure thing sunshine. Enjoy all your little add-ons... Until you actually use that shotgun and end up taking them off later.

how did it turn out? do you have your gun yet? i just got my self a
mossberg 500 "tactical" persuader. and the forend wobbles, i did some
research and found out it is a part of the mossberg design. it just seems
weird holding a brand new gun that is not that stable.

Wobble is going to happen with just about any pump action shotgun. My cousin has a Benelli that does the same thing (granted not as much)... Just the design, nothing to worry about.

And yes I did get it today. Been tinkering and cleaning it... Will add pictures to the OP...

you dont really need a special tool for the fore-end nut. none of my spanners worked, i think i just got leverage on it with an allen wrench the first time. and then when i decided to put it all back to OEM, i actually used needle nose pliers to get the leverage i needed. just use what you got brother!

thats a funky fore-end anyway, thats what they come with now?
