I owned an M4 and sold it because the LOP was just too long to be comfortable for my short arms to shoot. It probably would have been perfect for me if i had the collapsable stock but that stock cost $700 alone
I think the Saiga 12 is a perfect replacement except that it needs a damm maglock. M4 is an awesome shotgun

I love the arguements over the weight also thoes are great. If you realy have a hard time carrying a M4 I live in sacramento and teach a cardio/conditioning class at a local MMA gym feel free to stop in and you will laugh at the rest of the guys saying they are to heavy

Get it! How much harder is it to clean an m4 over any other shotgun you ask??? It has like three major assemblies! Not hard at all. Plus it was designed to be shot dirty, dry, and fouled. Not that it is a good idea or anything. It is a great gun and slings serious lead. And for hd its not too heavy at all. How many hd situations require you to hold a target for longer than a few seconds? Did i mention it fires as fast as you can put it back on target and squeeze the trigger yet?? Anyways I love mine.

        This is just too confusing.

I wish someone would just buy one for me and then tell me how much I owe.

I really think that if I don't get the M4, or at least a FN SLP, I will always wonder if I got the right gun.

Of course, the Mossgerg 590A1 is pretty awsome as well, and it is a lot cheaper.

Maybe I just won't get anything. I hate having so many choices.

I guess it all comes down to pump vs auto loader.

        TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just kidding. This is a kind of fun decision, even if I know whatever way I go, I will wish I went the other.

Just looked at an M4 today at Riflegear, bit heavier than an M2. Considering one of them myself. Where else has some shotguns in stock, I would like to see a Mossberg 930 SPX, haven't held one in awhile, same with an FN SLP. More than likely I will end up with an 870 and make a few changes to it. LOP is one, the forearm seems far away. Just found out Hogue makes different LOP stocks, or just cut the stock down. I also hate pistol grips on shotguns.
So who has a good selection of shotguns in Southern CA, I live in Temecula but will drive.

Personally I like an Auto because of the bolt hold open and I like the fact that the Benelli knows when you've fired a round or just opened the bolt.

Last month the Cstocks were 225 shipping included for some reason they are back in the 300-350 range.

Appreciate the offer. More than likely won't bother you though, I am leaning towards an 870 pump. Wife has used one before, and it is for her to feel safe when I am gone. She likes the sound of racking a round.

Haha your choice. I don't mid helping a fellow CGer. My wife is pretty comfortable with my P226R and she has her own Mossberg 500 as well. If you ever find yourself going to Iron Sights let me know.

If you are even considering multigunning, the M4 is out of the question.

The Benelli M1,M2, or the FN SLP Mk1 is your better bet for competitions.

If you are seriously interested in the M4, let me know. I just spoke to a buddy who is selling his near mint M4 for $1500. He only has around 500 rounds through it, and is selling it to pick up a Salient Benelli.

His only modification to it was adding a full length titanium mag tube so it holds 7+1...and he still has the original mag tube and spring.

I love my M4. Absolutely love it. You can't get more reliable and it's very comfortable to shoot.

I love the M4! When shooting slugs compared to my 870, the perceived recoil is less and more manageable. The Mesa Tactical Stock eliminates the long LOP. I shoot trap with it every once in a while and my only complaint there is the sights get in the way.

Other than that it's a fun gun and a blast to shoot, I wouldn't trade it for another shotgun. It's in my permanent collection.

Save your money and get the Salient Benelli M2. Lighter, easier to clean, runs all ammo,
and very fast. 10 rounds in under 2 seconds! That will clean out a hallway or room.
If you can't shoot good, at least look good shooting
