I still think 7.5 is suitable for home defense in apartments, or where you certainly must NOT penetrate a wall completely.

It may not kill an intruder, but one shot with it at close range is not going to come after you after being shot once, you can always shoot again.

I personally think it is cruel and unusual punishment, as it would be far more painful than dying.

Personally, I would suggest Federal Tactical Low-Recoil 00 Buck, but some people just have to buy the cheapest ammo out there, even for self defense.

We have a family friend who was an ER doctor and he tells us stories once in a while. He told us a story once about a lady that came in with a shotgun wound. It was birdshot. I remember him saying from the outside it didnt look bad at all but practically every organ had been hit by bb's. He said there was nothing he could do for her. He had to completely open here body up but could not repair her before she died. He said he did try though but it was to much for her body to handle. Maybe next time he comes around I will probe him for some more details,,lol

That said, the last thing I want to do is take "hostage" shots with a shotgun. And you said a 18.5" Mossy w/ a bead sight?

By all means load slugs, my HD gun has a couple slugs in the tube and a couple more in the side saddle, but they're for zombies & baddies in body armor (or sometimes you just want to put an inch wide hole in a b****) and all those other theoretical situations we'll hopefully never encounter. If theres a hostage situation I'll take 5 seconds to set down the shotgun and pick up my AR.
I agree - I would never plan to deal with a hostage situation - with a shotgun - but the primary point is - the ability to switch to different loads during a fire-fight is an advantage - that the shotgun provides... as for what I was talking about:

I have an instructor (current LE - teaches on his off time) - that plays out waaaaay to many possible scenarios.

I guess I should go pre-order the new Die Hard movie - it was a good move at the end. I'm sure he'll be in for many a psychic eval. for that one.

But on my end... uhhhh.... no... I wouldn't use 1oz (437gr) or my magnum 600gr - monsters for a through the hostage shot... Now on the other hand, say 3 or 4 badguys in a line? sure...

Personally. If I'm going to shoot. I want the BG stopped with 1 shot. As I don't want the LE's or DA's coming after me saying - I used excessive force by shooting the BG several times. And I don't want to end up in court - when the BG sues me for shooting to defend myself in my own house.

            But that's just me.

I talked to Miss Cleo about that psychic evaluation, and she said it was a legit shooting. Her psychic friends all assure her that, had he not taken the shot, he would have died in approximately three seconds, followed by his daughter and the nerdboy. Sorry, when talking to Miss Cleo, I started channelling Bun Bun from Sluggy Freelance...
