    590a1 Pump Arm loose

    Hey guys,

Quick question, does anyone else have the same problem with the 590a1's pump arm feeling loose?

It's not a big deal for me, I just learned to ignore it.

Btw- It's off topic but here's a pic of newly out of the box 590a1

All Mossbergs have felt that way to me. I prefere Winchesters or Remington.

Ah okay. I felt as if something was wrong with it. Thanks for clearing that one up.

Most pump shotguns have forends that are loose or rattle

Most every pump shotgun's front end has felt loose to me. It's just the way most are made. The one with the least amount of play I've noticed is my Winchester 1300. The last time I messed with a mossberg, it felt like it was broken, or had something loose. They work, I guess, but it just seems wrong to me.

              Sweet sounds good!

OOh Alright. When I was handling it at the store I didn't really notice that it was loose till I got it a week later and lubed it up. But yeah, knowing that most shotguns have a front end are all a little loose, some to a lesser degree, makes me feel a little better.

mossberg is just sloppy like that.. 100% normal

as turo said the winchester 1300 has much less "slop" than everything else.. mine does not wiggle/rattle/move at all.. this is why i love this shotgun more than any other pump ive layed my hands on..

not only that but it also feeds the aguila mini shells without issue (true ive only put 20 through mine.. 5 slugs, 5 #4/#1 mix, and then i alternated 5 slugs and 5 #4/#1.. but i didnt have a single hangup with any of it).. at this point im just tooting the winchester 1300 horn..
Boy the way Glen Miller played, songs that made the hit parade, guys like us we had it made, those were the days, and you know where you were then, girls were girls and men were men, mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again, didn't need no welfare states everybody pulled his weight, gee our old Lasalle ran great, those were the days!

                    who wants a fishtank?

I guess mine feels good...like I thought it would based on handling them at the store. Since I'm new to shotguns I really don't have anything to compare it to I guess

There is usually always some measure of wiggle in a pump action shotgun's fore end. Mossbergs tend to be a little more wiggly than most. Doesn't seem to affect their operation though. I've been shooting them for three decades.

Exactly, they're made with very loose tolerances. It's why pump action shotguns tend to be so reliable. You don't need to lube the mechanism, and traipsing around through the woods and getting crap in there won't jam it.

Yeah, I've been holding it around the place (of course always unloaded and double checked the chamber and on safety) and it feels good too. Gotta say man, 590a1's are pretty decent.

Yeah I was kinda thinking the same too. As long as it isn't falling apart it's all good haha.
