Got my first shotgun (Hawk 982)

As of yesterday I am now the proud owner of a shotgun. I am happy I can add it to my mini collection. The last couple of months I've been kinda stuck in a rut in either buying the 870 or the 982 in which I ended up getting the Hawk. I figured for the price and my inexperience, the Hawk will do its job. And plus $150 can go into Tacti-cooled stuff. I took it apart to give a little clean earlier today noticed it looks pretty well built. Of course I some additions I want to pick up for it but not so sure on brands. I want a new stock thats for sure and definitely add a mag extender.

Ill get some pics up as soon as everything picks up.

nice choice. that was also my first gun purchase(two years ago). i thought i was gonna go all tactical on mine also, but it has stayed in its stock configuration. its a great gun. i've shot about 800 slugs through mine and about 100 00 buck through mine and haven't had a problem yet. with the ghost ring sights its a breeze to shoot the black out of a target at 25 or more yards. enjoy and happy shooting!

Most Rem870 parts will fit but not all!

If it's for HD you may not want too much "tacticool" stuff on it but to each his own! Congrats on your new purchase!

Check around about replacing the stock magazine follower spring. Of course if you get an extension, you will get a new spring.

              +1....

While tacticool looks cool and all, it adds weight and doesn't always add to function. If you are betting your life, or your family's, on the gun, keep the cool guy stuff to a minimum.

Add a light and a sidesaddle, at most, and call it good.

I hear exactly what you guys are saying. I think the main things I'm looking for are side straddle and changing out the stock. Flashlight of course.

                Little much?

Will the Hawk take any of the folding stocks that fit the 870?

I don't see why it wouldn't. It fits most of them (870 stocks)

Yes, whatever you can put on an 870 you can put on your gun. I had an 870 before I got the Chinese, I am still impressed. Check out ebay, calguns, brownells, sportsmans guide and cheaper than dirt.
I have a folding knox on my 870, I was going to upgrade the Chinese and put the Remington stock on it but decided the Chinese to be thicker, heavier and more hardy.

How do like the folding stock. Any shakes and wobbles? I myself like the specops one with the recoil thingamajig

For a mag extension, you will have to settle for a +1 as anything else will extend past the end of the muzzle.

                          For a light, I chose a LaserLyte tri-rail and a Streamlight TLR-1.

My best beater shotgun and one of my favorites on BLM land.

My Hawk 982 is the only weapon I have in my collection that I really dont have to worry about. I dont care about scratches, dings or if it gets dirty. It just gets the job done like any well made tool. Just toss it in the back of the truck and go.

                              Nice pics guys.

The most recent things that I have done is paint the front sight with some nail polish...had a little trouble trying to get it off around the dot sight itself but nothing a little "sharpie" and alcohol couldnt fix.

I also took the gun apart...completely and gave it a good clean so that before I shoot it, it doesnt have all that sticky oily gunk on it.
