might I ask where you got that wonderful shell holder for your factory remington folder?? I've been looking for one for years...literally. Everybody I've talked to said it doesn't exist. I remeber seeing it in T2 at the theaters. I also have the surefire front end (older version with just a pressure switch) and it made the gun too front end heavy for my liking. now I'm back to plain old wood

I like those old surefire frontends, they have a classic look to them, you wouldn't happen to know if it will work on a shotgun with a bayonette lug would you?

I got the shell holder with the stock when I bought it off gunbroker, I actually paid extra for the stock because I wanted that option (and It's been really hard to find) I believe it is a factory component.

I'm all about the hunt for obscure components (its a true test of your googlefu) If I come across any more I'll let you guys know.

She's coming along... one piece at a time.

The barrel isn't the final one that I'm going to use, but I figured it would work untill I can get the exact right one, this one is just so I can play with it at the range untill I find the correct one. I just took a nice wingmaster 28 inch barrel and cut 7 inches off of it with my handy dandy pipecutter (works great)

The bolt is chrome, the forend is currently off of an older wingmaster but I'm going to swap the wood for an actual MK1 forend that I scrounged up (for 25$ who da man)

I have had a heckuva time finding a complete functional trigger assembly, I have two and a half sets dissasembled on my desk and I can't make one complete one that works. but I have bids in on gunbroker and I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and pay scalper prices on it.

I gotta say, if you have no qualms about bubbaing a classic gun, the wingmaster is a great place to start. now that its assembled the pump/bolt/toggleplate/etc. assembly is now as smooth as butter in this shotgun, Its wayyyyy nicer than any express or police 870 I've ever played with.

          Pic update,

Well She's functional (tested and everything )

I put a wingmaster trigger assembly with a chromed lifter into her, and I got another forend New Unissued Military surpluss off of a MK1.

So now I just need to either find or have made another barrel that has the old profile and rifle sites. Not that it will hurt the function, but it will make it look more authentic.

I may actually swap the MK1 action tube out for my old wingmaster one, The wingmaster is super smooth and slick, but the MK1 feels like it isn't broken in yet..... A few thousand rounds might slick it up.... but if not, I'll go back to the old wingmaster part.

Then off to the park tank...

          Anyhow... here she is

Nice to see something other than your run of the mill 870. How much did the total damage come out to, if you dont mind me asking?

You know you have to get a bayonet now right? hehehe

Here are some Rough prices as to what I've got into it.

                Receiver 70$
                Bayonette Lug 350$
                MK1 Forend (correct one) 100$
other forends that I wound up not using $45
                chrome wingmaster Trigger assembly $50
Trigger assemblys that were incomplete that I tried to make work but didn't 20$
                Chromed bolt assembly 30$
                Misc little parts 15$
                LEO topfolding stock 150$
                Plain 30inch barrel 70$
Pipe cutter to shorten barrel 15$

                subtotal: 915 ish

                Still to buy:
correct MK1 barrel or fabricate one custom (apx 200$) 21 inch modified choke with rifle style rear site
rifle style site for bayonet lug (apx 15$)
Parkerizing (a case of your choice of beer or some gunparts for whoever wants to let me use their park tank)
cir clip for stock (apx 5$)
extra sling swivel for stock (apx 25$ if I can ever find the dang thing)
anti jam lifter (apx$ 40$ used)

Total when it gets done will be somewhere around $1200

I haven't found the right bayonet for it, and I don't have any idea what one costs so tack that on to expected expenditures.

I'll post rough serial number when I get home, if you want to know what your year is, just write to Remington's and ask them, (or call them) they're more than happy to help out with that.

Wow... I clicked this thread thinking I would see some tacticoolaide assault shotgun.

That is a freaking SWEET build you have going. And it looks much better with the early police/mil wood.

                  Great job!

Just was thinking about this gun... so I figured I'd bump it up so that the new guys can see what tastefull tactical looks like

There's something to be said for all factory parts on a gun....

I had almost the same gun years ago- bought from B&B guns as a police trade in for $200 (no bayonet mount). IMO, the folder isn't bad to shoot at all.

I did put some loop-side velcro on the back of the butt plate so it wouldn't scratch up the top of the barrel (I didn't want to scratch my painted-on alumahyde finish- the gun came a bit worn!).

                              Nope

I have a C&R Browning superposed for that

I also have a half dozen or so C&R double barreled shotguns and a handfull of other pump guns (stevens 520's, nobel 12's) and a few C&R semiautos

I really enjoy this shotgun exactly as is...

although I may build up a supermagnum to go with it in the future.
