I need help choosing a autoloader

I'm not real big into shotguns, but want a nice autoloader for trap mainly. Skeet will be in the future as well as sporting clays. Not by any means competition. Just casual.

    Budget is $1000.

I was sorta looking at Beretta 391, Remington 1100 etc. I don't need anything real fancy, just a nice shotgun that I will not have any issues with.

    for an auto-loader......... BENELLI!

I had an HK Fabarm, which uses gas system and I had to clean the system very well or else I had problems at the range. At the end I had enough and sold the gun.

My first shotgun was a Benelli Black Eagle Competition and I still have it today. It's very reliable and I rarely have problems with it.

Get a benelli, you'll never regret your decision!

Wait for my skeet clinics and I'll let you shoot a couple of autos. But my pick is always the Remmy 1100 first, Beretta 391 second. The Benellis are great guns but I don't have a whole lot of personal experience with it.

You can pick up a used 1100 way under your budget, and they do make a trap model. I'd start there and then if you want to shoot other clay games buy another gun. Trap is it's own game and you'll get better results with a trap gun but it will hurt you in other games.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

I have shot thousands of rounds through my Benelli Sport II & Super Sport with no regrets about my decision to buy Benelli, other than the price – they are not the least expensive option.

Unless something new comes along when they wear out I plan on replacing them with new models of the same guns. The ComforTech stock option offers a noticeable difference in the felt recoil. They are very reliable, simple by design and easy to disassemble and clean.

If you reload your own shells I should add that neither of my Benelli’s (inertia recoil system) will cycle a 7/8 oz. load while some of the gas systems offered by other manufactures will. I can shoot 1 oz. loads all day long without an issue.

Remington 1100 & 11-87 have been in production for over forty years and seam to be the most popular autoloader. Used ones can usually be found at a reasonable price and parts are always available. I see more of these on the field than any other autoloader, perhaps due to reputation, price and availability.

Beretta makes some nice looking autoloaders. I haven’t had any experience with them other than I see some very accomplished shooters using them.

Good luck to you with what ever you decide – they all break clays.

Why the 1100 over the Beretta? Price? I only ask because I'm going to buy another dove/quail/whatever shotgun in the next month or so and I had almost completely decided on the Beretta 391. Talk me into an 1100!

+1 on the Beretta 391. I have over 15,000 rounds through mine and have had only 2 malfunctions. I shoot with a guy who owns a Benelli SBE and it will NOT cycle 1 oz loads.

I'm in the process of purchasing a used AL391 Urika 2 Synthetic. Like new condition. Buds has it for $894 new. What is a fair price for a used one? I assume approx $700?

I think an autoloader is a bit overkill for just plain ol trap. Ive got a mossberg 500 with 28 in barrel and improved choke and it does just fine. Last time at san clemente trap and skeet I got 24/25 twice on trap. Really bugged me I missed the same bird twice.

benelli M2 American.... you can find great deals on this gun and it will do anything you ask of it. There have been quite a few sales on this gun of late.
