I think I officially hate my Mossberg 930

So CGN, I think I officially hate my Mossberg 930spx. Every single time I have brought it out, it has some new issue going wrong with it, and this is unacceptable for a so called "tactical" gun. It was having failure to feeds, and today's magical problem were light primer strikes on all ammo, and then it worked fine. I think I might trade this or sell it for a remington 1100 or a M1 super 90( I had a chance to buy a mint HK M1 super 90 for like 700 bucks). Anybody want it?

How many rounds are through it? And what types of ammo are you feeding it? I'm presuming you've broken it down and made sure the gas system is clean and unobstructed.

You're not betting your life on the gun out of the box, I hope.

Light primer strikes and then not? Very strange. Tagging for replies as I am interested.

I'm on my phone so please bear with me...i have about 500 rounds through it,all mixed but mostly military buckshot, and winchester super x...today I had super x and federal birdshot. I always keep it clean and run pipe cleaners through the ports. Oh, I never trusted this out of the box, I have a walnut 870 I put my trust on. I got this as a fun gun and it has not held up to that, I still cant see how they can market this as a defense weapon.

All they need to do is call it tactical..buyers flock like fish in a barrel.

You need to get gun recommendations from Tier I / HSLD / Operators if you don't want to be disappointed.

Sorry to hear that, im a proud owner of a 930 spx w/ p/g. Man when this thing functions its a beast. So it was working then messed up or different issues kept popping up? Did you purchase new or used? Mines is used bought from fellow calgunner and Didnt strip it before going to range, the charging handle didnt want to slide forward after 50 rounds of buck due to powder resin. So i stripped it down to the trigger housing and oiled it mildly with cloth. Took it out again and ran flawlessly. But worse comes to worse send it in thats what I was gonna do. I even ordered a new charging handle from them free and there nice better then the leaf looking one.

                      SPX a winner

Of course a year ago you couldn't have convinced me of that. I too had a total lemon 930 SPX. 2 trips back to Mossberg and a conversation with the service VP Jesus Gueterez (sp on last name phonetic) got a new gun sent to me and it works like a charm.
Right out of the box, total reliability, as you'd expect. It's so reliable my Benelli S90A-1 is now a safe queen. Call Mossberg, send the gun back. They will make it right or replace it. You can even get a pre-paid shipping label from them.

To the OP: If you don't, you can sell it to me dirt cheap and I'll send it back to Mossberg myself.

Sorry to hear that. Must be frustrating as heck, no doubt. First step is a detail strip, and cleaning. If you don't find the obvious problem then call Mossberg. How much of that nasty sticky cosmoline did you find in your receiver and mag. tube? Mine was well coated, so I detail stripped it before it made it to the range. It took a ton of cleaning. I enjoy it, so I didn't care. Two weeks out with it now. 300 rds. of Federal bird shot, Remington Magnum 00 buck, and Remington hollowpoint slugs. Not a single problem yet. Hope it stays that way.

Ya cleaning isnt the problem, im a stickler on that. Also I got a question, my mag tube whete the gas system is, is severly chewed up. It has always been lightly oiled, is this normal? Could that explain the problem? Either way I guess I might have to just send it back or trade it to one of you guys for a older m1

I think anytime you get a gun that has that many different malfunctions, you should always send it back to the factory, especially if most people dont have those problems. I have read and heard nothing but good about these shotguns, i would definitely send it back to Mossberg, if not I have a Noveske Recce upper I will trade you for Seriously!

I once got a Mossy 500 that had problems, sent it back, a month later i received it and it works like it should now. Sometimes its just a fluke.
