Yup, my 982 is built like a tank. I get compliments all the time.

It has performed flawlessly. I can even shoot skeets w/ the short 18 1/2'' barrel. I've put about 350 rounds downrange w/out a hitch.

Oh yea, I just keep it 100% OEM and just buy lots of ammo.

Just picked up the Hawk at Big 5 for $200 and added a M4 6 position stock w/pistol grip for another $65. The guns looks bad *** and has ghost ring sights to boot. The only problem was I could not trade out the forearm grip as it is welded to the pump mechanism, otherwise I'd have a forward vertical grip and 3 sets of rails to really have fun with. Not bad for $270 all in. It seem built like a tank too

you can swap out the forearm just like an 870 but the hawk dimensions are slightly off. I think they are slightly larger in diameter so they need to be tapped in with a rubber mallet

Buy the Mossberg 500. the 870's are great but I wouldn't go as cheap as the hawks. there are lots of internal plastics on it that break.

I got a few hundred rounds of 00 and slug through mine, funny how nothing broke.

They ain't crap. All 870 parts fit, minus the barrel with a small mod or a extended mag tube (drill dimples).

Here's my 40k Toyota that's been giving me problems since day one!!! The 982 is a great affordable shotgun, You cant beat it for the money! I love mine, Wish I could say the same about my Toyota!

All your comments in this thread have been completely misleading at worst and confusing at best.

EVERY major SG manufacturer in the world makes synthetic (aka plastic) furniture pump shotguns including Remington, Mossberg, Benelli, Norinco etc.

The military issues firearms with synthetic furniture including the M-16 and Mossberg 500 SG.

The reliability of synthetic furniture has been proven with weapons such as the Glock, M-16, 12 ga. pump SG's, and more. Your own tests with the Hawk 982 have not found a problem, why spread your irrational fears?

Most if not all pump shotguns have plastic or wood furniture. Why would the 982 having plastic furniture be of concern when nearly every other shotgun has it as well?

I have a Hawk 982, Fired the cheap walley world ammo, as well as slugs and OO no problems..

I've fired about 300 rounds.

It would be nice to have an 870 but for the price of the Hawk you can't beat....
