So does this actually cause some sort of malfunction?
While we're here arguing about the latest high tech running shoes, there's some Kenyan out there running barefoot. Guess who's gonna win the marathon?

The uncut ones seem to apparently gouge out the inside of the receiver, deeply.

No malfunctions or feed issues whatsoever--the only real issue is the scratch in the receiver. I didn't even know about it until JD pointed it out.

Once the extractor scrapes the inside of the receiver and makes room for itself in there, it's a non issue other than any oxidation or rust on that spot inside the receiver.

I finally picked up some degreaser and cold blue, so this weekend I'll try to find the time to file down my extractor and touch up the receiver with the cold blue.

          What issues?

            So the new extractor came from Remington today . . . . . . . .

It's the same one! I specifically told the guy on the phone from Remington that it needed to be tapered, and he wrote it in the notes. He said he couldn't guarantee it would be tapered, he didn't seem to know what I was talking about.

The gouge seems to already be in my receiver anyway, so I think I will just reinstall my old extractor. I will not be purchasing any new Remington products anytime soon, that's for sure.

Calishine. Sorry that happened. I have to order 50 tomorrow as I just got swamped with a major rebuild for a Federal agency. If you want to do this go to wwwaiptactical.com the address is at the top of each page. Send me the one you got from Remington and I will send you the proper one. Please don't give up on a great company and a great product. I will make it right because I believe in this weapon and staked my life on it for all those years.

Remington is so big now as they are part of Freedom Group and when you call in you get a person trained to pull up a screen and take orders. They don't all the Remington weapons much less all the new one from the companies that merged with them, yet all this was dumped on them. Not their fault but damn sure the fault of Freedom Groupl the new owners. Again, send it me and I will send the correct one. Oh, I have been hording some the correct ones for my custom builds and most of the ones I have been getting lately are correct so I will send you a factory correct one, not a modified one.

Thanks JD, I'll mail it out tomorrow. You're a stand-up guy for taking care of this, even though its Remington's prob.

To the rest of you guys, if you're in the market for an 870, go through JD. He'll give you a bug-free 870, and will spare you the trouble I've been through.

                Thanks again JD.

Don't do it for business. I do it for the passion I have for these weapons. Well, that and I am to ugly to get a woman and have a lot of time on my hands. Hockey season starts soon so to all the Calgunners that hate me and bust my balls all the time, I won't be around as much. Big screen LED TV, the Ice package and I get every game.

Yep, and foot ball to but Hockey is like 6 nights a week, starts at 7pm and ends around 1am. I watch as much NFL as I can and now two games on Monday night. Good thing I am not married anymore or a divorce would be on the horizen. Back to the game.

I got my extractor in from Aippi, and it had a beautiful taper on it. I installed it in my 870, and of course, everything went forward without issue.

Once again, go to Aippi for all your 870 needs.

Thanks for the heads up on this JD. My new 870P came with an untapered extractor, and with your instructions I was able to easily make the modifications.

Cool beans Wheeln. I got an order of extractors in after this post and they are fine. I got an order recently and they are fine. I am most certain it was a vendor issue and the vendor got a tune up. Keep that P rocking.

Just to confirm, my 870P extractor has the tapered issue described by Mr. McGuire, correct?

No it does not. I am not at home where I can send a picture of a correct extactor. I hope one of the guys here can post a piciture of a correct one. You then get a small file and make yours look like that. You may also simiply look inside the receiver and if you don't see a scratch on the wall of the receiver behind the ejection port you can let it go.
