I really like the saiga 12 also. That is the only saiga I would buy. Maybe someone can make a workable fixed mag or a bolt action/pump action conversion. We should get a poll for interest in a S12 project. Count me in for a S12.

The bullet button is a good invention. I can see how it could be concidered a detachable. I think the bullet tip is written somewhere in the law books being a tool. It is nice for people not old enough to own more than ten rounds. Since they can only have ten rounds, what would be the point of a mm or u15 stock for them?

12276.1. (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:

(7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine.

Yeah, I know, but does the word detachable apply to the gun or the magazine. Rules of English says detachable is a modifier of magazine here. The bullet button does not modify the magazine, so the mag remains detachable. Just saying IMO. Good luck if you ever have to go to court.

Do these have gas systems like AKs or does recoil reset the action? If it has a gas system then one could disable it and have a cool looking pump Saiga with detatchable mags.

If someone wanted a detachable mag shotgun and was going to convet the S-12 to pump by disabling the gas system they might as well just get a Valtor 12 guage.Here is one for sale in SoCal.

One of the things I hate most about 3 gun is the time it takes to load a tube mag. I usually just carry a round our two in my right hand and throw them into the open chamber ala cowboy action shooting just to avoid having to feed the gun from the bottom.

I bought a Saiga 12 back in 1999 or so when I lived in another state. It was very fun to shoot but the shells would eject about 15-20 feet in a high arc. No one could use the tables near me because of the flying shells. The range I took it to had a junk pit that allowed shooters to toss just about anything into it (no glass/metal) to shoot it up. I usually placed gallon milk jugs of water in the pit and took turns on them with my Saiga and Arsenal SLR-95.
Only thing I did not like about it is that mag capacity is low. 5+1 rounds (only 5 rounders back then) rapid fire is so fun I kept yearning for higher capacity. It also cost 4-5x more to shoot than bulk AK ammo. I think I still have an old gun magazine that did a write-up on it if anyone is interested in reading the article. It reviewed as an excellent clay shooter that could make novices shoot like advanced shooters due to its accuracy and ease of use.
