More than a few companies make a bolt on rail that attaches either on the forearm or on the barrel/mag tube. Then any firearm light will bolt straight up from $25-250. You can use a light mounted switch or a forearm mounted pressure switch, usually attached with velcro.

My 870 with the Speedfeed IV, Surefire forearm, Mesa 6 shell and mesa two shell is HEAVY.

Also just the size of the surefire makes it a bit unwieldy.

Adding a Knoxxs Stock was the best thing I ever did to my 870. Love the way it points and shoots now. I can shoot slugs all day long without hurting the next day. I shot off 75 birdshot, 50 00buck and 25 slugs in a row and did not get as much as a bruise and had zero pain the next day. The recoil is much more of a rolling push.

Here is what I did to my 870. Just finished putting it together a week ago so I haven't had the time to try it out in the current configuration.

-Rem 870 w/mag extension
-Surefire forend light
-Mesa Tactical 6-shell side saddle
-Mesa Tactical LEO stock adapter
-ERGO Grip (had to cut it some for it to fit)
-Endine Shot Shot buffer (it is a big spring not hydraulic)
-Magpul ACS w/enhanced butt pad
-Burris Speed Bead (it is a Fastfire with a shotgun mount)
-Vang Comp oversized safety

How much did all of those aftermarket parts run you? This is exactly the way I've always wanted a shotgun, except I'd want to put a heatshield/shroud on the barrel.

Just buy a bare rail and mount what you want to it.

Surefire is designed with a momentary pressure switch on the right side and a hard "on-off" on the left. Mine is exactly that way. It is the best dedicated unit for the job on the market, IMO.

I don't get why some feel the need to jump in and take digs at people who want to go full Ninja with their guns. It's their money, their guns, if they want to drop on $1,000 of tacti-cool and run around in their cammos, as long as they're not hurting anyone have at it and enjoy your build.

BUT having said that... if the shotgun is going to be used as a primary home or self defense weapon then one really needs to carefully select and install any accessories. Was at the range a few weeks ago when someone brought in their fully decked out HD shotgun. Although it diod kind of look sharp it was extremely heavy, was clunky with all the add-ons, had protrusions that could easily get hung up on doors, corners, clothing etc, and just had too much stuff that could fail or get in the way. My thought was that if he really put the emphasis on having a true defensive weapon that might be called on to protect his family and home, he would have been better off to just leave it 100% stock.

Messing around with toys is fine - just don't confuse the toys with life saving tools.

I certainly don't begrudge anyone doing whatever they want to their shotgun. If it pleases the owner, and it still goes bang, who am I to say it's wrong?

That said, when it comes to an HD gun, simpler is always better. My 870P is below. It has a Surefire, a mag extension, sidesaddle, a big button safety, an aluminum follower and a Knoxx NRS (which I am still strongly considering doing away with and going back to a standard stock). Wood or a Hogue... haven't decided yet. The Knoxx is a good stock, very functional, but I'm finding that it does not have the operational value add I thought it would.

No rifle sights, no slings, no ghost ring, nothing else to add or takeaway. Just a plain bead front sight as it came from the factory. It runs perfectly, always goes bang, and the Surefire is, as I said above, the best tool of it's kind for the work it does.

honestly I would advise against tricking out a shotgun. To me that is a weapon that should be kept simple. When I tricked mine out the thing just became to damn heavy but if you are going to get quality gear. That tactstar and caa crap is garbage stick with Mesa tactical
