Deadbolt - does yours look exactly like the picture? How many shells does the mag hold? I'm a bit confused because it has the 18" barrel, so does my 982, but the mag in the picture is almost as long as the barrel, my mag is a good 3" shorter.

Is the heat shield pretty sturdy?

So it cost $205? It has the heat shield, the sling ring, different forend, and maybe a longer mag. If that would have been available I'd also have bought it instead of my Big5 Hawk 982.

Please post a pic of your when you get it.

The Hawk isn't in this coming week's sale paper Big5, probably be in next week's. I'll ask one of my guys at work what he paid for his. If I remember correctly that was about what his was.

FWIW, Big5 is running the Mossberg 500 combo this week for $279, which has been their going sale price for a while now, an 870 "Security" which is an Express with a mag extension for $359, and "Mossberg 6 shot Adjustable Stock" with no photo for $399.

I'd say either way you got a deal.

Its pretty close and yes ill definitely post a pic once my 10day is over ( feb 2nd) The mag is about 1-2" shorter than barrel at most. The shroud has a mount that prevents the mag screw top (which secures the barrel to the mag, sorry my terminology isnt great ) from coming loosening without the removal of the shroud.

Glad to know i did ok on price !

The one in the picture you posted has a 17" barrel by my calculations. It sounds like you have a Hawk 982T - Tactical model. I have an older model Hawk 98T that came with a heat shield, pistol grip and a round corn cob forend like the one in the picture.

I thought Clinton & GW banned all firearms export from China like a billion years ago through Executive Order? Where are these "NOS" shotguns coming from?

Another difference between the shotgun pictured and the 982; the rear sight in the photo looks like a typical open rear sight, while the 982 has the aperture ghost ring rear sight.

Looking forward to the OP's pics.

Yes, the Hawk 982 is usually $250+/- at B5, but they sale it at $199, and usually if you ask nicely they will sell you one at the sale price, even though it's stickerd at the usual price. A few months ago the challenge was finding them in stock at any price, but it looks like supply has loosened up for almost all firearms in the last few weeks.

Phew! Coffee just saved me, for a sec I thought you were saying the model i had was a 17" er ( just what i want to deal with ) .

I think you are correct re: 982T - and as another poster mentioned, supporting the 982T - it does have the ghost ring rear site
