Pistol grip or regular?

OP, try buying one of the " regular " stock and install it. I have had nothing but the regular stock on my shotguns (have had 5,now down to two). I tried the Magpul stock on my Rremington 870 when I still had it.

I currently have the Magpul on my Stoeger M3K. The original stock of the Stoeger is too flimsy for my liking. On my Benelli Super Nova, I was initially tempted to get the pistol grip model, but after reading a lot of feedback from the shotgun forum, seems more owners go for the regular stock due to the recoil impulse on the wrist??? Something I couldn't explain properly here.

I don't think you'll have a strong idea of what you, your wrists and hands will like until you take one to a range and put a lot of shells downrange. I did, and I hated it. I have an AOW that came with a pistol grip and I changed it out to the birdshead as soon as I could.

Others in this thread have presented valid operational reasons why they like them so in the end, it just comes down to preference. I don't think one system is objectively better or worse even though I hate PG shotguns. But that's just me. I like streamlined when working with a sling (you do have a sling for a defensive shotgun, right?) where you may have other tasks for your hands but need to bring a shotgun up to firing position quickly.

I don't like pistol grips in duck blinds. Cumbersome and too may things to snag on.

Prefer streamlined and sleek; no need for fancy gizmos...

Feel same for defense; KISS keep it simple silly...

I've shot enough clays that a pistol grip would throw me off.

Looks wise I always liked the Speedfeed Tactical LOP standard style/shape stock and a Surefire forend. They are hard to find. And in reality don't work that well...or at least the Surefire forend doesn't. Even with the included metal lockout brace for the pressure switch it is too easy to get a light ND.

Functionality wise I find I really like the Magpul SGA stock and the Magpul MLOK forend. The stock spacer system gives you an adjustable LOP and the forend combined with a rail section and INFORCE WML gives you a really nice usable light with less change of a light ND. Magpul makes a nice rear sling adapter for the SGA stock that goes in-between the stock and receiver that works really well as well.

Here is how that setup looks on a Mossberg Defender my father gave me a Christmas present a long while back. I gave a GG&G AZ front sling mount adapter on it as well. There are sexier options out there. But this setup is really comfortable and the ergonomics really work. Magpul knows what they are doing.

my bad, didn't think of it not having a stock. I guess some people like the birdhead grips.

I have a pistol grip and m4 collapsible stock

I do notice, that it kicks a lot more with the m4 style stock than the stock it came with. I did figure out how to shoot it differently though, and can mitigate felt recoil
