While I ponder swapping the pistol grip off my shotgun for a regular on I wonder what yall are running.

Edit: I need to elaborate, I?m not looking for what I should do just merely what yall run. Already ordered regular stock so pondering done.

This is the type of stock I?m thinking of switching from

How you intended to use the shotgun matters here as well. They both have a purpose.

My m1014 has pistol grip, my 1301 doesn?t.

It’s like you’re asking us if you should order a size 11 or size 12 boot. Only you will know what’s best for you. Test both and then figure it out.

            Here you go: https://www.brownells.com/gun-parts/...k-forend-sets/
I have this set on one of my HD 870s (although I refuse to say I?m ?running? it). My other HD 870 just has the wood stock and forend that comes on the Police model.

Personally, I think pistol grips on a shotgun are terrible, they are at a bad angle for recoil when shooting slugs or Magnums. Some people like them, but the few I have owned I changed or got rid of them and all of my current shotguns are traditional stock save for my S&W M&P12, which is sort of a pistol grip but it's also a bullpup which is far different geometry than a regular shotgun with a pistol grip on it.

A pistol grip on a social event shotgun allows me (makes it easier) to keep the stock up against my shoulder, and the weapon pointed towards the target as I top off the magazine with the support hand. In the event that I need to discharge the weapon while loading, I can easily do that. I also prefer it as a way to steady the weapon while in low-ready, or compressed low-ready while navigating hallways, door openings, corners, etc.
Basically, it is all about efficient gun handling.

Personally, I like AR style stocks on an HD shotgun. Easier to manage with one hand while the other hand is busy with something else (like dialing 911). Also a bit harder for someone to take it away from in front of you.

In other applications, they leave a lot to be desired.

If you have to pull the trigger in HD situation, recoil is not my concern.

                        I need to elaborate

OP, try buying one of the " regular " stock and install it. I have had nothing but the regular stock on my shotguns (have had 5,now down to two). I tried the Magpul stock on my Rremington 870 when I still had it.

I currently have the Magpul on my Stoeger M3K. The original stock of the Stoeger is too flimsy for my liking. On my Benelli Super Nova, I was initially tempted to get the pistol grip model, but after reading a lot of feedback from the shotgun forum, seems more owners go for the regular stock due to the recoil impulse on the wrist??? Something I couldn't explain properly here.

Depends how much of a tactical badass you are.

                          What military trained you?

I have a m4 style stock, a heat shroud, a pistol grip, and a rail with a red dot on mine... i only shoot rifled slugs through paper people...

if this gun is a semi-auto, a pistol grip would be an illegal AW
"It is currently CA legal to modify a double-action revolver into a single-action revolver and modify a single-action revolver into a double-action revolver.

CA DOJ BOF stance on modifying handguns only applies to dimensionally compliant bolt-action single-shot pistols and dimensionally compliant break-open single-shot pistols.
^It does not apply to revolvers, manually operated repeating pistols, and semi-auto pistols." ~~ Quiet

                            Training is classified

But in seriousness it was bought during a time when I thought tactical is the way to go now I just want comfort functionality.

If that?s true how?s the panzer m4 legal?
