Weatherby's New Side by Side

I?ll buy one in .410 if Weatherby makes it.

I called Weatherby and asked the customer service rep, "There's a video on your website that mentions a .410, are you going to make it, or is that just some type of tease marketing"?

The rep replied that he wasn't aware of the video and then in a chuckling voice added 'I cannot confirm or deny that we'll be making it in .410."

They are listed on Gunbroker now, 12 and 20, $879 and $887 respectively.

Yeah, I've seen a few on GB.
A shop about an hour away from me has them on order but has no idea when they will show up.

Weatherby wasn't any help on providing any shipping info on this new model, whether it be to specific dealers or when they will be shipping in greater numbers.

Kind of a sad rollout of a new product, if you ask me.

They were kind enough to tell me which local shops were Weatherby dealers.

I just spent the weekend looking at the Tristar Bristol with the English straight stock. In 28 Gauge. Nice wood and nice bluing. Wholesale Hunter has them for $989.00. The Weatherby looks alot like it, but with matte blue all around and double triggers. Matte finish on a supposedly classy double doesn't quite match up. I do like the double triggers though.

I don't have a problem with the matte finish.
For me it's a plus on a field gun.

I wouldn't call either the Orion or the Bristol classy.
They may be trying to look classy.

Weatherby Orion

Weatherby is resurrecting the Orion name, again. They have used the name at least a couple of times in the past, but only for O/Us (I think). Previous generation Weatherby doubles had been manufactured by Zoli, Nikko, SKB, and ATA (and maybe others). I have no idea who is building the new ones, but I'd bet it's Turkish. There are some nice guns coming out of Turkey these days.

I have both the 20 & 12 gauge Orion O/U. Yes, they are Turkish but in my opinion are extremely well made. Weatherby isn?t going to put their name on junk. I too my get the Weatherby side by side 20 although I?ve never owned a side by side before.
