I shot a regular event last Sunday and did OK with a 15 ,16,16,17. Part of this is the 3,4,5 stations where I'm having trouble with the high house birds, and part of it is not being able to see the birds coming out of the low house until they are past the center stake due to the background. I lost 2-3 on every round to that alone.

Tomorrow I'm shooting my 12ga Citori XT which should make up for some of my misses.

Sunday we are shooting a Skeet Doubles only shoot, where you shoot doubles on every station. Should be fun.

I got my Dl366 loader down and started loading on it adn it has been a PITB relearning experience with that machine, and I now Regret selling my Dillon as it was a far superior machine.

On my last box of primers now, so we'll see how long they last?

Not sure how you have trouble with the high house birds when you can't see the low house birds.
If you are having trouble picking up the target, you may want to look into different color lenses to help you out. CMT color lenses really make the orange clay stand out against most backgrounds.

Great post. I picked up a few boxes of the Winchester tracker as I can’t figure out my midfield lead.

        ><

Take some friendly advise and shoot those Tracker shells like you would any other and don't even try to see where they are shooting. Why? Because you, as the shooter can't see where they are shooting, and if you do, you will have missed the target anyway.

          To put it another way...
If you are looking at where your shot is going, you are not focusing in the target. If you want to break the target, you need to focus on the target.

Those tracker shells are for your instructor's benefit. You will never be able to see them. Your instructor off to the side might. They are just to fast.

Anyways at mid field you want to miss from in front. Missing from behind will never teach your subconsoiuos mind what to look for. Your suconsiius mind can differtiate your susained or pull through leads. It cannot if you never sustain or pull through and miss from behind.

Then other is elevation. You could be shooting over the bird if your hold point is too high. Best to hold under the window. A lot of beginners let the muzzle cover the bird. That allows the eye to see the bead and measure going back and forth from the target and bead overriding the trust factor. This is especially important on station 2 high and 6 low.

I haven't gotten the lead on the high house birds from 3,4,5 down yet.

In the morning there is a big shadow on the front of the Low House and the birds are Black with an Orange center. +There is a bunch of dark green bushes behind the Low house, it is hard to pick up the bird before it is half way across the field when it gets above the bushes.. Everybody is having trouble.

I tried other glasses and found no difference.

Today I shot my Ithaca and found out I had lost the ability to rack the slide during recoil. Will have to work on that. I also found out that the gun doesn't have a disconnector and will slam fire if you have the trigger depressed. I am having to unlearn trapping the trigger for that gun.

it was very hot today and everyone sucked so I didn't feel as bad. I might add that I didn't suck Worst!

So on 3,4,5 are you trapping the target, sustaining a lead, or pulling through for a lead?

I'm gonna guess looking at his "sights".

I'll add that very few crossers are missed by "too much" lead.

Stopping gun, shooting behind the birds shooting over or under the birds, and probably every other mistake you can make.

I was having fits running that pump gun which normally for me is pretty easy. But it's not a Mossberg 500

I have to break the habit of trapping the trigger when shooting that gun because it will slam fire because Ithaca M37's don't have a disconnector. so if the trigger is depressed when you close the action on a live round it fires! Did it about 3-4 times on doubles. Will do lots of dry fire with dummy rounds to break that habit.

I have to tell you that I just had too many things going on yesterday and trying to concentrate on all of them at once which resulted in a disgusting performance.

I have to get into a place where I can just shoot 3,4,5 over and over until I get a well established successful sight picture that I can use. Right now I'm doing something different every time. That will never work, complete waste of ammo.

Sunday we are doing a doubles only shoot and I'm shooting my Citori XT. I'll see how I do with that gun. The pump gun is on hold for now. Once I get 3,4, and 5 down I'll Try it again.

I appreciate all the help. I don't learn things quickly or easily, however once I've gotten them figured out I can compete with anyone. It just takes me longer to get off the ground initially.

This is a common problem when you check the barrel. If you are locked into the gun and rotating with your lower body, as you should, the gun becomes a stationary object in relation to your eyes. You focus on the bird, moving object, then switch to the gun, stationary object, you will stop the gun and shoot behind the bird. This isn't tactical, your focus MUST be on the bird.
