    OK guys look out!

OK look out,, cuz I started actively Shooting Skeet again 3 weeks ago. Hadn't shot in nearly 3 years as I was doing other types of shooting. The Front Sight Shotgun Classes really made shooting a pump gun feasible for Skeet

We have been shooting on Thursday morning at the Ojai Valley Gun Club Facility in Rose Valley above Ojai CA. I normally shoot skeet with a Browning Citori Sporting Clays Edition 32" in .410 , or my Ithaca M37 12 ga.

Shooting once a month wasn't going to get me where i needed to go and then my gun seized up one hot day and I was completely destroyed.

$250 later at Pacific Sporting Arms It was as good as new, actually better, as the gun was super tight from the factory and was still tight after nearly 1000 rounds. That and a slight lapse in lubrication is all it took to lock it up and gall the hinge. I had the gun smith there loosen the hinge up slightly and it runs real nice now. Better than new.

So I've shot 3 times as of today and today started out well with a 19/25 Then on the second round I just plain sucked. Was getting too much help from the peanut gallery. Seems the more I think about a shot the worse I get.

Anyway it was still a good time, and I will improve faster by shooting every week instead of once a month.

So Look out all you So Cal guys because many from my club go down to Northern LA venues I hear you talk about, and sooner or later I'll be there as well.

        Randy, you amateur.
To be a real man, you need to shoot skeet with a Winchester 42 in 410.

Glad to hear you are doing well in skeet. Very cool.!!

        Best regards,

The last round of Skeet I shot was a 24/25, but that was before the pandemic.

My next rounds of Skeet will be HERE
I will be shooting the 12 & 28ga main events. Come on down and join us!!!

All of that information, yet it doesn't state WHERE this event is held. A little help please?
Never mind, I now see it in another thread.
            Thanks anyway!

I've got a ways to go before I stick my neck out. Having trouble with the center stations 3,4,5 but once I get the sight pictures for those stations down Pat. I'll be back on.

I'm doing stupid things like Prairie Dogging to see where the shot went and stuff I've never done before like waving at the birds. I had four guys telling me what I was doing wrong and everyone said something different.

Everyone else was shooting 20's and 28's

Only for sure cure is to shoot more. I have never gotten to shoot Sporting Clays, can I get a Handicap?

Quit looking at the sights. Keep the gun moving.

Even at once per week, you'll plateau. It's like golf. I haven't played in years now, but when I did we played ~ once per week. My buddy and I were neck and neck. When he got laid off and played 54-72 holes per week he dropped 10 strokes in 6 mos.

But that's not a schedule many can keep. So just shoot against yourself rather than the field.

Orders of magnitude harder. Pattern density is minimal at Skeet ranges, almost nonexistent beyond that.

Pattern density is mitigated with choke...reducing pattern size.

1 oz in a 30" circle has basically the same density is 1/2 oz in a 24" circle (all else being equal).
