Congrats on the Shockwave, it was literally the first thing I bought when I moved to TX three years ago. After trying out the 12 gauge a few times, I opted for the 20 gauge, happily with zero regrets. For H.D., 20 gauge WILL get the job done, no question. I have a good supply of Remington #3 Buckshot (20 pellets) and that stuff will destroy at close range. IMO,the 20 gauge is more manageable, and one handed shots are not too difficult. At 25 feet, I can hit my targets very well, you'll just need to spend some time shooting it, finding your sweet spot as far as grip and pointing. It plays a role in my home defense plan, I'm glad to have one. My wife shoots it well, and she has a 20 gauge Beretta Silver Pigeon O/U and well over a thousand of #7 Gun Club target rounds.

I have seen 20 gauge buck here and there, just keep your eye peeled. And here's a sling I bought from Amazon, a nice, cheap sling that fits the Shockwave nicely.

This guy needs 100 or so rounds of buckshot that he will never find in a store.
BPI has stock, he will just have to put it together.

They have "Thug Slug Packages" and other slug packages which include a new primed hull and a slug . All you do is put powder in and roll crimp closed.

Thug Slugs are devastating and being able to assemble them at home is a skill worth having. I even cast most of my Boolits and Slugs, and that is another skill worth having.

I know you reload, and I know you have a 5 year supply of components. You will be able to weather this storm just like you did last time and so will anyone who gets started now, when the next one hits.

It just takes time to get set up and stocked up, but you've got to start some where..

        A) I hope you are correct.
        B) I'm not going to hold my breath.
        C) True enough.

On a different note, there are possible legal issues with reloading defensive ammo. Me, I'll use nothing but factory loads for home defense...And yes, I have enough of those as well.

Thanks for the info. The store I bought the gun from had only BB buckshot, so that's what I picked up. I'm happy I got that, it's probably the only 20 gauge buckshot in town.

FYI - Shot size BB is not buckshot.

Here is a chart of the different shot sizes.

Meh, the box said buckshot. Whatever, semantics. All I care about is if it will stop something bad coming at me.

I wonder what the recoil would be like on the outside chance I shoulder the brace, which don't have nice recoil pads. The gun is only about 5 pounds and even with a brace would be pretty light.

Yeah, for me, the sling on my Shockwave is not a tactical accessory like my V-TAC is on my AR15, but simply something that allows me to carry hands free if need be. Plus no extra sling adapters needed. I only use my Shockwave at my friends 40 acre property for fun, and as my specific H.D. tool for front-door protection. Its slim profile allows it to fit perfectly in a nice hidden place.

I have never considered a brace; it works perfectly as is for my specific needs, plus I will heed the advice of some to never remove the bird head grip which is the one characteristic that makes it simply a "firearm" in the eyes of the ATF, and not a long gun, shotgun, or handgun. Plus the skinny profile allows it to fit very nicely in a 4" PVC tube just in case

At the ranges you would actually be able to hit a target coming at you with that gun, IE: <10 yards, Any shot size will work

You could also put a regular stock on it which would make it infinitely more accurate, but that would make it a Short Barreled Shotgun. or NFA gun.

                    Something more like this,,,,

Yeah, I hadn't much thought about a brace until I was surfing youtube for sling videos, and came across the Mrgunsngear one that I posted. The brace sure adds a lot of capability to it.

Then the guy behind the counter says "You wouldn't want any 20 gauge buckshot, would you?" and pulls out a box of Winchester 20 gauge #3 buck from under the counter. Didn't have any spot on the shelves reserved, so it was homeless he says. Even though there are a hundred empty spots on the shelves for other ammo. Why yes, I will take a box of 20 gauge buckshot, I say.

Some worthwhile accessories you should think about are a Brownell's Raised Safety, and a Velcro Side Saddle.

If used in it's intended roll, it needs to be a Grab and Go type of package, and that means having extra ammo on the gun. a Velcro Side Saddle is the way to go on that as you can easily have several loaded strips with you where the empty strips can be quickly ripped off the gun and replaced with loaded ones. Options??? $15ish

Also you seriously need some Tactical Shotgun Training where the first thing you learn about Presenting the Gun is "Safety First!" That doesn't mean you should always be safe, it means the first thing you do as you are presenting the gun to the target is disengage the safety !!!,,, so the gun will actually fire!!!. The Brownell's Raised Safety Button facilitates that very well, and is well worth the $10-15 it costs.

Another worth while accessory is an XS Big Dot Front Sight that has a Tritium Insert. That way you can see where the gun is pointed in the dark.

And last, a light mounted on the fore end or mag tube so you can see what you are shooting at? Might be a good idea, so you don't shoot your wife after mistaking her for a burglar?

I like the Magpul Fore ends as they are easy to adapt different accessories to and I also like the Streamlight TLR-1's as they work well and don't cost as much as some of the others out there.

So there,,, I just spent another $200 of your money, but at least you got something good for it.

So here we are, 3 months after I started the thread and I still haven't shot the thing. I still have just the one box of buckshot I got at the beginning. 20 gauge sucks. Wandered into the same store, looked in the case, and WTF? Is that another Shockwave? Except it's a 12 gauge! I have a fair amount of 12 gauge buckshot and slugs already, and they're much easier to find these days than 20 gauge anything. Price is 30 bucks higher than Jan. This store has been raising prices on all their gun stuff the last month or so and I shouldn't really be surprised.

I'm still concerned it might be a handful because I hear others saying it. I don't want to shoot it unless I'm sure I'll keep it because it will knock value off of it. Actually, it's probably a stupid thing to worry about because these things are going for big money new OR used. Even if it knocked a hundred bucks off the value it's no big deal.
