Congrats on the Shockwave, it was literally the first thing I bought when I moved to TX three years ago. After trying out the 12 gauge a few times, I opted for the 20 gauge, happily with zero regrets. For H.D., 20 gauge WILL get the job done, no question. I have a good supply of Remington #3 Buckshot (20 pellets) and that stuff will destroy at close range. IMO,the 20 gauge is more manageable, and one handed shots are not too difficult. At 25 feet, I can hit my targets very well, you'll just need to spend some time shooting it, finding your sweet spot as far as grip and pointing. It plays a role in my home defense plan, I'm glad to have one. My wife shoots it well, and she has a 20 gauge Beretta Silver Pigeon O/U and well over a thousand of #7 Gun Club target rounds.
I have seen 20 gauge buck here and there, just keep your eye peeled. And here's a sling I bought from Amazon, a nice, cheap sling that fits the Shockwave nicely.
