Did you have to reverse the scan?Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. -- James Madison
The Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms. -- Samuel Adams, Debates and Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 86-87 (Pearce and Hale, eds., Boston, 1850)Comment

The patent on the 870 expired over a decade ago.
The Norinco 982 is of far better quality than a modern commercial 870.
-The 982 has a metal triggerguard, the 870 doesn't
-The 982 is parkerized, the 870 isn't
-The 982 is made completely out of barstock milled steel parts, many crucial parts on the 870 such as the extractor are MIM.
Sure, you can get an 870 with all of the above features, but you would have to pay an additional $500 to get the "Police" model.
That's just a few reasons why I would pick a Norinco before I would choose a commercial off the shelf Remington.Comment

Yes, I'm sure a Chinese clone is a much better gun than the 870 express
I think all US police departments procuring 870's should now go to the chicom version, lol.
I know the 1-2 Ithaca clone ones I've messed with sucked. I sonetimes see them even this year from $100-115 used.
Not a knock against all Chinese guns, I own and have owned various examples to this day.Comment

I don't agree.I know the 1-2 Ithaca clone ones I've messed with sucked. I sometimes see them even this year from $100-115 used.
The Hawk 37 is not a Hawk 982. You can't compare them because they are completely different designs.
The Ithaca 37 design can be prone to cycling problems. The several Hawk 37 shotguns I owned were completely reliable and was very well made. In fact if they were still imported I would own another one. I wish I had never sold mine. When they were available I sold at least 50 of them and never had any customers come back and say they were having problems with one.
Hawk Model 37 Picture. It is also a lot of shotgun for the money. Everything on it is well made; The nice very thick stock & forend, very good recoil pad, thick steel receiver and parkerized steel heat shield. Same nice steel GRS as on the 982. It's a very heavy durable Tact-out model 37 shotgun.

Back to the Hawk 982, it's a lot of shotgun for the money. You should try one and then form an opinion.

Also, 982 comes with pretty cool sights. I own both Hawk 982 and Remington 870 Express, the security version. Remington was smoother out of the box, with 982 it took some breaking in to get there. Once I racked it, oh, probably 200 times or so, there wasn't much, if any, difference between the two. 982 feels a bit heavier, both are balanced pretty much the same way though. Remington 870 fits one more shell than 982.DiaHero Foundation - helping people manage diabetes. Sending diabetes supplies to Ukraine now, any help is appreciated.
