and how exactly do you figure that, one mossberg 500 is inferior to another mossberg 500 made at the same factory?

i have a big 5 special 28" barrel and 18.5" barrel, it has performed flawlessly since day one

yeah can any one find info on that? i thought that they just sell them at normal price since the 2 barrel combo one is on sale at 279. regular price is more and that seems like the price for these everywhere else that has decent prices. anyway, whats some good ammo too? and what are they good for? ineed to pick up some cheap ammo, and self defense ammo. thanks guys!

I just picked mine up last week and put about 100 rounds through it with no problems. I got the knoxx specops stock and plan on getting a new slide tube assembly b/c its flimsy and I want a new forearm(I have heard it is the maverick forearm). http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=119605

                      Congrats on your new shotgun.
Now go to walmart and pick up a few value packs, couple boxes of 00 buck and go shoot it.
Honestly, I don't think you need anything more than lots of ammo and practice, unless you just like pistol grips, then you might want to get a Knoxx recoil reducing stock.

Not 100% sure about mossy's, but I'd be pretty confident that there is nothing wrong with your big 5 special.

I know my rem 870 model 26503 that i got from a gun shop is identical to the 8 shot rem 870 that big 5 was selling for $349. Does pay to shop around though, cuz the gun shop was only $299.

i haven't searched teh internets for it... but one distinct difference between big5 version of the 500a that i've noticed is the buttstock. it's really hollow/light, whereas if you look at oneelsewhere (private store?), the stock is more solid. i mean you have to wonder why it's cheaper at big5 than anywhere else. (no, not saying the price difference is solely because of the buttstock)

edit: not downplaying the 500 by any means. i love the gun. just my 2c

and as for using maverick parts.

SO WHAT! i have a maverick 88 and its older than i am (15) and has had countless rounds through it(atleast in the 5,000's) and i have had no problems.

keep her clean and lubricated and youll be fine
