Actually I was watching Best Defense on Outdoor and they tested 00 buck and bird (and other rounds) for shooting inside a home. The buck went through 2 walls, the hallway, and the next rooms wall. None of the bird shot went through the first wall. But it sure did tear up the dummy model they fired at.Ammo is a whole different beast. Buck shots I guess are comparable to Hallowpoint Handgun Ammo. For instance, with 00 buck shots, your going to have 9 8mm pellets inside the shell. Slugs on the other hand, are 1 solid, 1 once piece of lead that shoots out! Bird shots, your going to have 100 different pellets inside one shell, that are great for skeet and trap shooting.
For HD, I would recommend using Buck shots. Slugs are great for stopping power, but are also great for going through your wall into your neighbors house!
Bird loads are great if your being robbed by birds..and thats about it!
Think about if you have a kid in the next room and you have to fire a shotgun. A birdshot at 5-10 feet will put some hurt into someone for sure.
I am no expert, just passing on what they came up with in the tests.- MComment

I remember reading in an article about how birdshot is pretty much only good for up to 10 yards for HD. In a small house or apartment, that might be good enough. At the very least, whoever is on the other side of the barrel is going to be seeing a wall of lead coming his/her way. On the flip side, I'm skeptic as to whether it will actually take anyone down....Actually I was watching Best Defense on Outdoor and they tested 00 buck and bird (and other rounds) for shooting inside a home. In any case, my HD load (since I live in an apartment with some thinass walls) is 2 #4 birdshot followed by 2 00 buck followed by a couple slugs (for whatever reason).Originally posted by luchador768We also had a lot of wannabe gangsters putting the display pistols down thier pants to "try them on.". If you bought a display handgun from the Riverside Turners in the 1990's there's a greater than average chance that there is cholo crotch on it.Comment

make him clean up his own mess after the cops arrive
My old neighbor when i lived in texas shot and killed someone breaking in(before i lived there) and they basically didnt do to big of an investigation(gotta love texas) and they just took the body and left and pieces/blood of the guy there for him to clean up!

it'd be in your benefit to have consistent loads for a hd weapon. you want to have predictable shots one after another, rather than a staggered, unpredictable lineup.gimme back my bullets

Everyone always forgets to mention the ammo details when posting target ammo prices, please post shot size and gauge when posting information on ammo.
People post details on slugs and OO buck (i.e. 9 pellet low recoil) but when it comes to target bulk packs, not a single detail except brand and qty.
ThxComment
