    I would bet money that the barrel marked IMP (probably not marked "improved") measures smaller larger in diameter than the Mod.

    Here is a choke chart from a 1980 SKB Catalog. Note that there is no IM (improved modified).
    It is probably Improved Cylinder, which is a larger diameter than Modified (but you can't be sure until you measure it). Improved Modified has always been less popular (most people just opt for full at that point).

      OP does not need a caliper. If he knows one barrel is MOD, just eyeball the other barrel at the muzzle (unloaded and broken open) and if the barrel walls are thinner, then it's IC. One manufacturer's IC is another manufacturer's Light MOD or Skeet, so it's all relative, no absolutes without patterning the gun with your load. Few actually do that, and OP does not need to worry about it at this point.
