I've seen a ss malf happen in person because the bolts were not thread locked.
The ss was attached as per instruction interpreted by a "new to shotguns user" and the thing was coming loose after 3 full reloads.

I like the ss for an easy to reach, see/feel ammo carrier.
I do not bolt them onto the receivers tho. I mount them with velcro.
Matching size/shaped patches to the the ss/receiver and they have always stayed put.

Proclamations that no one needs more than 6 rounds because someone told him 6 should be plenty is ridiculous. Attacing the Librarian as a keybowrd commando invites a response. One size fits all approaches are simplistic. Draping it in the cover of prior service doesnt make it gospel.
In light of the 99.9% of keyboard commandos who make up the membership to this site, I beg to differ. On the extremely rare occasion that a real life operator with .mil or LE experience posts here, we should all be grateful for such pearls of wisdom. I can barely load a shotgun correctly, and I sure as heck could not hit anything with it. I therefore accept my place at the bottom of the operator hierarchy and I will soak up every holy nugget of advice that real operators care to toss down to me.

        I stand corrected. Humbly so.

Going back through this thread I started I have to say I'm sorry for starting fights. I just wanted peoples opinion on different options........I don't care about keyboard warriors and all that argument. If I did I wouldn't have asked the question because the search function shows much of the same. Can we please get back on topic so we have a newer thread on this topic? So far I asked a question, got a few recommendations and a whole lot of arguing that has nothing to do with the OP.

I really want personal experiences with options to help me figure out a starting point as well as anyone who searches this topic to get good info.

I believe in you guys & gals. Seriously I do. I know I have questions that I haven't even thought of yet that I need your help with.

i don't think you need to apologize for anyone else.

                bot...

as i said, the reason i like the saddle is i can reach under with my trigger hand and reload, without ever taking the gun off my shoulder, changing my grip on the fore-end, or taking my eyes off the target area.

assuming you don't wait until you are empty, you can stop reloading and get off a life saving shot, without having to re-shoulder the gun or reacquire the threat.

obviously, some people shoot for sport and fast reloading is key is some types of courses.

it might not be because you need 10 rounds to stop an intruder, but a home invasion involving many targets in multiple rooms might require more than 5 shots.

oh, and i have used the velcro type and have no complaints.

currently, i'm running a Mossberg Scorpion, which includes a bunch of ATI furniture, including a Halo side saddle.
this type of option adds a rail, in case you want to use an optic (like the sightmark i threw on this one)
                  and accommodates 1-9 shell holders.

Agreed. However, I was thinking more from the rust aspect of having wet velcro attached to your shotgun...and that one would likely have to remove it to prevent the gun from rusting if it ever got wet.

I installed a Velcro 6 shot on my M500 from browncoattactical.com ,,, $15 each and work perfectly. Several outfits making these and I can see no significant differences in them. Mine installed in about 3 minutes.
