Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try!

Also thanks for the nice writeup, I think it would be in my best interest to get a trap gun first and then later a tacticool gun. I need all the help I can get on the range!

Alright, I'm not dumb, I just haven't read the entire definition of what the differences between Skeet, Trap, and Sporting clay shooting are. Anyone mind summing it up without the need to start a whole thread on it? Much thanks.

          you said quick....here's quick

skeet= left to right/right to left clays

trap= out away from you (left, straight, and right)

sporting clay= anywhere to anywhere (up, rolling, bouncing, left, away, right)

I think Oaktree minimum barrel length is 24 or 26". Youths with youth size guns are exempted from this rule.

It's their club and their rules.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

Any of you know if Moore-N-Moore is tacticool-friendly?

I took my new Benelli M4 to shoot trap and skeet the other day. I went with friends and one didn't have a gun so I gave him my Beretta O/U. I was fine with the Benelli. I don't really care what the old fart snobs with their O/U's think. In fact, buying my Beretta O/U for $1800 is the only gun purchase decision I regret. I thought I would be shooting clays and hunting regularly but that never came about. I should've just bought a semiauto, that way it would at least be useful for home defense too. Unless you are going to go pro with clays/hunting I wouldn't get a dedicated O/U. Tacticool shottie is fine, especially since it will probably never be fired much anyway unless you do clays.

Sure, one is for old men, one is for old ladies, and one is called sporting clays

Who cares what anyone thinks? If people want to mock you for shooting trap with a tactical shotgun, then tell them to buy you a $3000.00 over and under with engravings of animals on the receiver.

I have shot sporting clays with a mossberg 500 crusier with no stock, a rem 870 field pump, berretta O/U, and a benelli m1 pistol gripped. No one ever said I had the wrong gun to shoot sporting clays with. Not the people at check in nor the older guys with the beautiful O/U with the animal engravings.

I did however miss almost all of the clays with the mossberg and really only bought it along for cheap thrills. I find shooting clays to be the most fun with the 870 pump as report doubles and true doubles are a real challenge to swing through butt-body-beak-bang then manually cycle the action whilst tracking the other clay and swing through one more time. Just because I am not hittin'em both does not mean I am not having fun out there!

Trap Skeet 5-stand Sporting Clays illustrated.

Coyote Clays in Morgan Hill require a minimum barrel length of 22".
