    Tacticool shotgun for trap

If I used a tactical looking shotgun for trap shooting, will I become a laughing stock?

    Has anyone here tried it?

ya I tried it and all the old timers got scared
most clubs dont allow pistol grips and have a min barrel length so you might want to check on that
we had alot of fun at the skeet range with my benelli m4 until we got kicked out

I took my benelli M1 with grip out to usi to shoot some trap and skeet with a friend. the first round we were partnered up with a couple of older gentelmen who were snikering and laughing amongst themselves, after the first round they started asking about my shotgun and both admited that they didnt think i would be able to hit any clays yet i did better then either of them with their fancy guns.

I took my Benelli Supernova Tactical to shoot clays. It works surprisingly well... almost perfectly.

No weird looks from anyone though.

Anybody want to shoot San Francisco Rod and Gun this Sunday. I have never seen a HD shotgun being used. Ammo will be my treat.

I think I see that you cut your stock forend for the sidesaddle to fit, correct?

Oh I dunno. Tom Knapp uses a Benelli with an extended mag tube to knock 8 clays out of the sky with. If you could get the clay from the hip, they might actually be impressed. If you could hit a station 3, 4, or 5 regularly from the hip, I'd tell you to approach a gun company for sponsorship for a trick shooting demonstration. I've seen one or two people over the years at USI who could consistentlly hit clays from the hip from station 1 or 7. It was impressive.

I have the same problem if I got a side saddle.

I think getting a forend separately would be better if I do decide on getting a side saddle.

I've seen guys bring tactical shotguns and I don't have a problem with it or have seen any problems. The only problem I do have with it is if the operator doesn't know what they're doing with it. I've seen it once and I was laughing at them. Of course not out loud.

I took an M4 to Angeles to shoot clays -- no issues. Had an older guy next to me with his real clay gun, and we swapped and squeezed off a few shots of each other's. I think it depends on the venue.

Excellent info and advice guys. I should get the tacticool, and borrow my father in law's 870 if the venue is a FUDdy one.
