Big Honkers die with #2 steel all day long. Just hit them in the head/neck. Even with BBB you can hammer the body and they still fly off.

While I haven't shot a mountain lion with a shotgun at close range, they are not tough to kill, and unlike a rabid Hollywood bear will not continue to attack you once you pull that trigger and hit em with some payload.

Actually all that crap in my avatar was killed with #2 steel I believe that day.

That choke however would destroy ducks.
      Wasn't steel, used 3" Bismuth BBs-1400fps.
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

The U.S. city with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, Washington, D.C., has the highest murder rate at 24 per 100,000.
The state with the most unrestrictive gun regulations, Vermont, has the lowest murder rate at 0.48 per 100,000.

With that I would guess that your normal 10gram/cc density stuff (like hevi shot and a lot of the tungsten stuff) would need to be in the B size or so for that range.

With something like ITX13 at 13 grams/cc you could probably get away with 1s or 2s and have a little better coverage in your pattern, but I still wouldn't be using that super extra double full choke on birds inside of 40 or 50 yards. I shoot a mod choke with steel 3s and drop most of my birds around 30 yards (with the occasional hail mary, I should just swap to an IC). Anything inside of that gets torn up, anything inside of 20 yards gets pretty destroyed.
