    Heavy loads

What is a the furthest reaching heavy load for coyotes and geese? 3.5", 12ga...price not a consideration. The absolute best shells for these applications.
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

The U.S. city with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, Washington, D.C., has the highest murder rate at 24 per 100,000.
The state with the most unrestrictive gun regulations, Vermont, has the lowest murder rate at 0.48 per 100,000.

Given 507(a)(4)... Shotgun shells may not be used or possessed that contain shot size larger than No. BB in lead or T shot in steel or other nontoxic shot approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. All shot shall be loose in the shell.

Hevi-shot dead coyote in T should do fine for geese, and I would imagine coyotes as well, though I have no experience with the shell (or with shooting coyotes).

Given your other thread I just have to know...

Are you expecting a pack of coyotes to attack while pass shooting high flying geese?

Did you decide on or purchase a shotgun yet?

Hevishot has the highest density (8% denser then lead), so it will probably reach out further. They even have a product for coyotes...

          ><

Volocity does not equal more droped game. Here is the approch

Can you and did you put the shot on target? No shell can drop an animal if you miss. #1 Skill to make the shot

Do the shells pattern well. "Well "= evenly spread in a 30" circle at the distace you paln to take most shots.. #2 Good pattern

Finaly: Do the pelets have enough energy at the distace you usualy shoot at to make solid kills #3 knock down power

I tested many different shells loaded with #1 & BB in two different guns the last two years exculivly for goose hunting

Tested at ~45 yards - goose body center in a 30" circle target
Results: Best for gun A---IC choke, Wincester Xpert 3" 1 1/8oz 1550fps #BB shot... averarge 5 pellets on target.

Best for gun B---Mod choke, Heavy Shot Heavy Steel, 3" 1 1/4oz 1500fps #1 shot... 6 pellets on target
          -- Mod choke, Remington HyperSonic Steel 3" 1 1/8oz 1700fps
          .... 5 pellets on target

Many out of gun A had 0 or 1 pellet in the goose center...Did I test all the possible brands of shell and all the different shot sizes with all the possible choke combos ....no, but I found what works "well enough" for my two guns

Did you try Hevishot (not heavy steel)?

No...I have some from about 15 years ago ....never did shoot it up. I do a lot of hunting and do well with steel....I can't justify shooting a $3.50 shell.

While it's nice that you shared what you found out from your tests, it's not really relevant to the OP. The OP wanted to know about the furthest reaching shells, with price as no object.

Look up the "Hevishot" loads. They have EVERYTHING you are looking for.
                    Pricey,but, not a consideration, correct?

I haven't shot it myself, but I believe that I read in my previous research that Federal's Heavyweight shot is more dense than HeviShot.

So, maybe try these V-Shock Heavyweight Coyote shells: https://federalpremium.com/products/...ll.aspx?id=833

                              First time I've seen Heavyweight.

Here's the densities of various types of shot in grams/cubic centimeter.

                              Steel is 7.86
                              Bismuth is 9.6
                              Nice is 10.3
                              Tungsten Iron is 10.3
                              Tungsten Matrix is 10.6
                              Lead is 11.1
                              Hevishot is 12
                              Federal Heavyweight is 15 (Wow!)
