    Semi Auto Shotgun

    Hey Calguns,

I'm interested in picking up a semi-auto shotgun but I'm having a hard time figuring out which one. I've looked at Remington's 1100 and 11-87 models but haven't really looked elsewhere yet. Any suggetions? I want a reliable high capacity ( 7 or 8 shot) semi auto. 2"3/4 and 3" is fine, no need for 3 1/2 or anything like that. Thanks!

Benelli is the top of the heap if you have the cash. If you don't then Mossberg works better than an 1100 and maybe better than an 11-87.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

you know, I thought about a benelli M3, I like the fact that it can switch from Pump action to Semi auto. They have one for sale at a local gun store maybe I'll check it out.

In order from best (or most expensive) to bargain (value for the money)....

              1. Benelli M4
              2. FN SLP
              3. Mossberg 930 SPX

Save the $'s up and get a Benelli M2 (sorry, I think that the Benelli M4's are a touch overrated and unnecessarily expensive). Add a DMW +7 mag extension to an M2 and you are allllllll set.

                  Benelli M4

I have the Camo M4 with an extended titanium magazine. It is so fun and easy to shoot. Its a bit heaver than other 12's, but the recoil is quite mild. My browning pump 12g is much worse (recoil) than the benelli.

I love this gun and its my favorite in the collection. (although the Kel tec is quite fun to shoot).

I really like Benellis and own a few of them. I don't own an M3 for good reason. Do not waste your money on an M3 they suck, for lots of reasons.

if you like recoil, then get a Benelli (any M series) since it's inertia driven, I prefer the Rem 11-87.. it's mostly a gas system so recoil is less and the gas does most of the work. Mine is smithed so you can shoot from the hip and it will function 100%. what people don't think about is, what if there is a situation where you are unable to shoulder the shotgun but need the second shot. I recommend the 11-87. I've owned the Benelli M1 & M3, as well as the 11-87... the 11-87 is my HD and the Benelli's have sold long ago

I'm surprised no one has recommended the Berettas.
DEFINITELY check out their 391s (URIKA, TEKNYS, XTREMA)

Also consider Remingtons. I love my 1100.

Find a used M1S90 and don't look back. The M3 is a semi-auto that is convertible to pump action. The reason for this is so the M3 can fire ammo that will not cycle in a semi-auto. Unless you have a definite need for that feature there is NO reason to get an M3 over an M1S90.

So where does the SPAS 15 rate in these lists?

Check out the Winchester SX2s and SX3s as well.
