Mag lock/BB for unconverted Saiga 12

I want to bring an S12 into California and don't want to do a conversion until I get my hands on it and familiarize myself with it. Based on several hours of Googling and searching here, I can't seem to find a BB that will definitively work with an UNCONVERTED S12.

I've contacted several MFGs and they have all responded that their mag locks only fit such-and-such trigger guards, etc (all of which are various conversion kits).

Can anyone point me in the direction of a California compliant mag lock that will definitely fit on an unconverted Saiga 12? (Is there such a thing?). The trigger guard seems to be pretty far from the mag, so I'm wondering if the only way to bring an S12 into CA is to have it converted first...?

Thanks in advance for the help

Riflegear sells one. The part # is AP-SAIGA12BB. They're out of stock right now though. Perhaps another seller has one. It's guaranteed to work on unconverted because I have one on my unconverted.

Thanks - yes, I'd seen that one and should have mentioned it. It looks like the only source for it that I can find by Googling around...

The problem is that we don't know who actually manufactures the thing. It makes it much harder to find the same thing elsewhere. Without physically looking at my S12, I would say that this one is either the exact same one, or close enough that it will work.

Thanks! Looks like that one will work! Here's an email response from Midway:

Thank you for your recent email. I have checked into the Prince 50 Designs Bullet Button Magazine Release Assembly Saiga 12 Gauge and it should work with your OEM Saiga 12 shotgun.

Good deal! I say get it while you can, as they aren't as common as the other bullet buttons.

Just remember that it'll make the S12 legal to own here. But you still won't be able to legally use a 10 round magazine, due to the parts count.

Thank you for the video, it looks nice.

Is this specific unit the one featured in the video?

Does it legally meet the requirement for a "fixed magazine" in California? If so, whats the deal with the disclaimer on your instruction sheet?

                Thanks

Ah, I hadn't even thought about that. So I guess when you swap out ANY of the 20 listed parts on a foreign made firearm, you "disrupt" the balance and now have to swap out at least 10 of the listed parts with American made parts. (Do I have that right?)

Thus the popularity of conversion kits. Pretty bizarre how our brilliant lawmakers actually provide us an INCENTIVE to make our guns look more "evil" looking with PGs and skeleton stocks.

I forget all the exact numbers. But a stock S12 is what they consider in "sporting configuration". You can shoot your mag-locked S12 all day with 5 round mags all day and be legal. But once you pop in a 10 rd, it's illegal because it's no longer in the "sporting configuration".

It all has to do with the 922r parts count. If you want to use 10 rounders, then you need to lower the imported number of parts. This is one reason why so many people do conversions. The conversion itself gives them a few more US parts. You can get the parts count down without a conversion probably, but converting is the most cost effective route I believe.

Just took a quick look and it seems that you'd be at 12 imported parts with a bone stock S12, IF you use magazines that are 100% USA made. That's 2 parts over the limit of 10. So, the conversion easily gives you those 2 parts, lowering your total below the limit.

Or you could get some new furniture from Ironwood Designs. A stock and handgrip/forearm would bring you down to the 10 also. But it's $$
