Mossberg 500 Big 5

I'm thinking of getting to this project again but no pistol grip

I like a pistol grip shoulder stock on mine. I had a fixed one on my Mossy for 20 years. The only problem is the safety location on the Mossberg. The Maverick has the safety on the trigger gruard, which solves this. Here is my Maverick 88 8 shot with a Knox Blackhawk NRS stock.

That is the factory forend from a Maverick 88 security. I have the same problem, my Blackhawk came with a forend, and I am not using it. These factory forends are one ebay for cheap all day long. If that is all you want just buy one there. I'd sell you mine, but I need to buy an action tube first. lol

Big5 Mossy 500 is really not worth it.
There is another issue of not able to add mag extension tube (without buying a new barrel).

It is cheaper just to buy a regular 500 (not Big5) if you start tinkering with it

Just leave your shotgun alone. Take the money you were going to spend on mods and buy ammo and range time.

Or a maverick, if you are going pistol grip(due to the safety location). I bought my Maverick for $200 on sale at Big 5, the stock was $44.

Yeap. I also have a Mav88 that I got for $200 at Big 5.
8 shots. That was a good deal.

Early 2014. I bought an ATI pump at PSA for $99 shipped !! Fired few hundred rounds. No issue.

Thought all mossy 500's you have to buy the barrel to add extension tube? (not just big 5)

You are correct. It is Not just Big5 mossy 500.
