Scope for 17 HMR?

What scope are you guys running on your 17 HMRs, and what magnification do you prefer for the cartridge?

I havea Bushnell Legend on my Savage 93r17. The magnification depends on what you're shooting at. I use mine to hunt tree squirrels so I use mostly 6x at about 50 yards.

I originally installled a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40, but found I wanted more magnification, primarily for ground squirrels. Swapped that out for a Buckmaster 6-18x40 (now discontinued) and have been very happy with it. I recommend you get the highest magnification you think you might want, as the .17 is so accurate at longer yardages you'll spend a lot of time using the higher end of its range.

Have a Mueller APV on one and a Center Point on the other both 93R17's. Both have adjustable objectives.

I just removed my Leupold 3x9 because I want to go to a higher magnafication.

Am still shopping.Looking for higher mag. and adjustable objective like the EFR scope I took off.Went to a good home on a .22LR.

Get a scope with the highest magnification you can.

Why would you want all that magnification? The 17 HMR is only good out to 200 yards max. At 100 yards a 12x scope will see the lil holes in paper.

I routinely shoot my CZ452 at 200-250 yards. You can't see those tiny .17 holes with a 12 power scope at that distance.

Thanks for the input guys. I was browsing scopes last night and found/ordered a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14 side focus on sale at Natchez for $199.

Just curious what size are your groups when you routinely shoot at 250 yards?
