Another vote for the Browning Buckmark and the Ruger Mkiii.
As good as they are, you can make them even better with a few aftermarket parts by Tactical Solutions, Volquartsen, Tandemkross, Power Custom, KIDD, etc...

      +1 on the p22.

I love mine, but it got damn finicky on me this weekend, several stove pipes, and some failure to feeds.
Id chock it up to a lack of lube, and the 500 or so rounds of WWB .22 and Federal auto match i fed it.

+1 on the Ruger Mark III Hunter. Beautiful guns. I just wish Ruger would make their 22/45's with steel frames instead of that abominable plastic!

"Poor mans" handgun after buying a brick of ammo at today's price.

Ruger MK Series and the Browning Buckmark are the best currently produced 22LR semi autos in that price range.

A blue label Glock is what mid 400's? You should be able to find basic taper and bull barrel model MK3 and 22/45 for less than that.. unless them dropping off the roster has upped their value that much. The other hard thing is finding them used... generally people hold onto them.
Ditto on the Rugers and Buckmarks. Best field guns out there..that being said,I sold mine off for a Model 41..but its strictly a range gun. I'm really partial to the old High Standards and the Browning Challengers are great as well.

for a few dollars more... a High Standard Field King or Sport King. Ct. made only.

All steel, beautifully made, easy to take down, great ergos, still appreciating. $350-$450.
I concur on the High Standards. Had a great SK-100 late 50s feed it Standard Velocity and you are golden. Any halfway decent standard velocity will work fine. Try Aguila Pistol Match, Eley Sport, Remington Target or CCI Standard Velocity.
High standards are easier to take down than a Colt Woodsman but once you learn the trick/secret they are not at all difficult

+ on the Sig Mosquito. I feed it Mini-mags and it works flawlessly. Although, some have had mixed results. It is a really fun gun to plink with. Round nose only on the Mini-mags, no HPs.

+1 on the Mosquito! Had to fix it but it kicks butt now! If you've got a couple of hours to devote to it, it's one fine .22. The wife stands up there and fires away! Ammo: Golden Bullets, MiniMags, Stingers, Velocitors.

                            M&P 22. Buy a 9mm while your at it.

Buckmarks are awesome. We got a tactical solutions rail to replace the plastic one the gun came with and it has been awesome. Make sure to get some blue Loctite though. The screw will back off after about 500 rounds if you don't.

Some of the non plated lead ammo will start to jam it with the wax coating after some shots. We found the copper plated American eagles and cci would feed a brick with no problem at all. At 10 yards we get 1 inch groups with the regular sights. Great gun.
