You're right, there are many other fine pistols out there. Another one would be the Colt Woodsman for example. Thats why I always preface with saying current production. I'd love to fire a 41 some day!

I bought a brand new Ruger "Mark". It jammed at least once almost every magazine full of cartridges. Other magazines tried in it also jammed. I took it into a repair shop and they worked on it. It still jammed. With all ammunition types. A real lemon. The worst gun I ever bought new by far !

Ruger has a lifetime guarantee and they will pay shipping back and forth. Why take it somewhere else?

            My solid rimfire handguns are:

            S&W 617 4"
            S&W M&P 22
            Buck Mark
            Single Six Convertible

My 22-45 may be solid after break in, did lots to it before first range trip. It is accurate.

My P-22 is good, now that it doesn't chew the slide up with the trigger bar anymore. Lot's of mods to do on these guns. See RFC for what's been done to make them run better.

It's the smaller pistol in all of the comparison pictures. .22LR

My barebonez Buckmark is reliable and DEADLY accurate. Quite good sights too. You'd have to be a pretty darn good pistol shot to notice better with higher end 41's, HiStandards, etc.

I was kinda lusting for a 1911-22, until I saw how terrible the sights were. G.I. sights pretty much suck. Reducing their size sucks even more. Last I knew there wasn't aftermarket sight support for these.

For me, accuracy is a requirement of a 22. Should be able to hit a rabbit in the head at moderate range.

Another vote for buckmark. I have a 20 year old version that's a tack driver. Just bought another (new, UDX) to shoot with my kids.
