Is .10c a round the new normal ?

Since my loco Wally World has dried up on 22 LR and they changed there policy 1 box per day I have only gotten one 550 box in mouth from them. Online with shipping if you are lucky to get .10c a round. I know you can once and a wile hit it big @ G M , Cab or some other online retailer even then its about .08c a round with shipping.

IS THIS THE NEW NORMAL ?

Supply and demand, people keep paying stupid prices they'll never come down

I understand the S&D part of it. I'm not willing to stop shooting my 22"s and it looks like a lot of other people are the same way. I guess what I'm asking are most people willing to pay .08c to .10 round for 22LR?

That is what I have been paying, about .10rd with ship. I have a sufficent supply to last me thought the summer and maybe fall. So I am no longer part of the Demand side. Remmington is suppose to have a new plant go on line this
Summer, so the supply side should be better.

I haven't bothered shooting my 22s since all of this nonsense started. When I can reload 9mm for the same price there is just no point. And with rifles I still have plenty of commie surplus I bought for 16 cents a round and can reload new 223 for just a bit more.

The whole appeal of 22LR is that it's supposed to be *significantly* cheaper to practice with, which is not the case right now. I keep a small stash just in case but I patently refuse to buy any more until it's back down in the 5 cent range.

              The Burbs

I never see them at big 5. Part of my problem I'm in burbs of L.A. where there is no online sale's to L.A and not to many store's sell ammo there. So all them city folk come out my way and try to scarf it all up. I looked into reloading, a good setup runs $300. to $500. + bullets + power + primers.
I would need to reload a lot before I just break even but I think that's the next step in my evolution. So I will tell my wife I just need to shoot more to save money

The current market equilibrium seems to be at $0.10 per rd.

For Mini Mags, I will pay that much. For bulk, I will pay $0.08 tops.

You can buy good reloading set up for much less then $300. Lee makes very good presses and dies. There are plenty of sales on different reloading packages from Midway, Cabela's, Gander Mountain, etc... . And, there is always eBay, if you patient you can pick up real bargains on reloading equipment there.

Pretty depressing, huh? Every time you slip a 10-round Ruger mag into your 10/22, its a dollar. And that's for commercial, bulk-grade ammo.

$1.00 for the Sig mosquito and full the tube for a $1.80 in the Marlin Model 60 but that's better than $3.50 a clip of S/W 40 or 223 I dont shoot much of that these days.

Actually the dime is the new penny. It's our money that's devalued.

This. I've been putting more and more time in at the range with the 9mm and .45. 22, for me, is meant as a low cost training round...but why not train with the real thing when its about the same price.

I used to shoot competitively with .22 but since I dont anymore, most of my .22 shooting is done to help offset the cost of larger calibers.

If you want to get into reloading you can get a lee turret kit and some dies for under $200. It is plenty capable. Problem is powder is just as hard to find as .22 lr!
