    .22 with good accuracy

I am looking at getting a .22 to do some local competitions and just improving accuracy and having fun. I have been looking at getting either a Savage Mk II BSEV or a CZ455 Varmint Evolution. I would like to put some Lyman MJT sights on them but neither rifle has iron sights so I don't know how I would go about that. Both rifles are about the same price. I think the Savage looks better (who doesn't like a stainless barrel with spiral fluting) but I have heard the CZ is more accurate. Any testament to this? I would rather get the more accurate rifle but if they both have comparable accuracy then I would rather the Savage.

The Shotgun discussions forum is the perfect spot for this thread...

Yea wrong forum. But I still have a bit of info. I bought my 1st .22lr about 4 months ago. I bought a Savage MKII BSEV and I couldn't be any happier with this little rifle. I made a thread with some updates from my range trips. I have about 300 rounds through it now. Im more then pleased with my Savage BSEV. Its staying in my safe for as long as Ill be around!

Anyway check out my thread for a bit of info if you would like.

I only have one .22lr shotgun. They aren't easy to find but, they're out there. I'm just not sure if anyone is still shooting Fred Routledge's game of indoor clay shooting which, through a contest was called Moskeeto. But, if you find any type of .22lr shotgun competitions around, please let me know. I have a Remington 121 with a Routledge barrel.

I would recommend a remington 521 or similar. The old remington target guns came with goos sights, shoot great and are really affordable used. I've got modern Savage and Marlin rifles, and my old Remington is the best gun by far.

To be fair, the Marlin that's for sale is a gun that has most likely been shot at least once. Therefore it could be called a shotgun I suppose. That's the best I could do on short notice.

Lol. While they are fun to shoot, they are not precision rifles. The OP is looking for a gun to shoot competitions with.

I ended up taking it to Angeles when I had to qualify for my NRA shotgun instructor class. A few of us played with it after the class and we were averaging one out of five with the clays flying directly away from us and the thrower was about a yard in front of us. I was surprised that we were breaking anything knowing how long it took for target acquisition. The clays were at least 15 yards away by the time we could get a shot off.

Look at Ruger American bolt action fun in 22lr. Can't beat it, adjustable stock and trigger. Sniper quality.
