.22 lr ammo collection goal?

i find it really funny how poorly people think of remington gold bullets or any 22lr, i've shot it in my 10/22 my dads ruger mkII and browning 22lr tube feeder and not once had it foul up the gun so bad it was rendered useless til cleaned. the only time i ever had an issue was in my 1022 where the casing cracked and got stock in the rifle a slight tap and the casing came right out. i've used remington gb bricks for 10+ years.

I hated the stuff - wouldn't buy it to save a range trip - I'd skip the range if that's all the Walmart had. GB's and Thunderbolts both, and Wildcats... for me it was a prejudice I carried with me from when I had ONE rifle that didn't do so well on them. Honestly I still avoid Thunderbolts. Golden Bullets have proven themselves to be a staple for my guns that work as well as anything. There's a few gun rags I trust that report on new .22 rifles and usually the Goldens do REALLY well in accuracy tests too - like tied for first or in the top three usually. They test with Wolf MT, CCI Mini's, Winchester, Fed Bulk, etc...

I will give Thunderbolt another chance, and Winchester 555/333 bulk packs - I don't expect ,much, but I didn't expect much from GB's until an odd 525 pack changed my mind. I don't avoid ammo that sucks in other people's guns, I avoid the stuff that sucks in my guns.

Same here, I buy the cheapest bulk packs possible for my 22's, never have problems.

Maybe if my guns were pickier then I'd have a different opinion but then again if any of my 22's were picky they would be put for sale asap.

Its funny how long these things stay with us...I have also avoided golden bullets like the plague only because they turned my very first rifle (a Western Auto branded Marlin 60) into a jam-o-matic; way too many FTFs.
I'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't give them another chance...it's been 30 years after all.

Go at it next time, worst case scenario is they cancel your a few of your orders.

Watch that ammo, its known to lead up barrels especially in handguns sometimes shooting less than 50 rounds. Remington's bottom of the barrel ammo in .22lr.

I have heard constant negative things about Thunderbolts(and Golden Bullets), but I have never had issues with them in any of my "plinkers" I blast cheap ammo with.My Ruger MKIII, SR22, CMMG .22 lr AR all run like a top with it. Barrels may get a little leaded but that is nothing a good cleaning can't handle.

If I am shooting for groups with my 10/22 or Savage MKII, I use Minimags, Auto Match, or Federal HV Match.

I have shot several bricks of Rem GBs when plinking without any issues as some here have stated. TBs are a different story for me. Leaded the barrel in my SR22 Pistol and the barrel and cylinder in my Heritage Rough Rider Revolver so I avoid the TBs. No other .22 ammo has ever done that in those guns.

i have like 2 bricks of .22..... didnt get in the game soon enough before the **** storm last year.

I have successfully upped this from 600ish rounds to nearly 4k in the last few weeks thanks to cabelas!

I have around 60K ranging from cannon fodder blasting ammo to top of the line match ammo.. I'm trying to keep it at that level and look for bargans (ie $25-$35 per 500-525)

Haven't bought 22lr in years and recently went to see prices now and I'm shocked. Down to under 2k rounds. Now I'm hesitant to blow through the rest of my Winchester Super X. $50 for 500 now when I'm remember getting them for under $15.
