    Cmmg upper or another 10/22?

I read earlier that the cmmg upper might be more accurate or just as the 10/22. I got an ar and a 10/22 tac w/ threaded barrel and its awesome, but it jammed once every mag so i sent it in to ruger for some warranty work. Since my girl really likes the ruger minus the jams, and i have been wanting another .22 cal rifle i can plink with, I've been looking into uppers.

Does anyone have both the 10/22 and an ar with a cmmg complete upper (which one), and what are the pros and cons comparably?

I have a cmmg upper that is pretty accurate.
I had it out a week or so ago and was hitting a 12" steel plate offhand with only a few misses from 70 yds.
I had reliability issues at first but I think the issue was my lower not the upper. A swap of lower and 100% function.
If you have a 10/22 then I'd say go with the upper.
Mine is the 16" carbine (don't remember model number ) with stainless bolt and collar.

      I got one of these:

I went for the alum. barrel shroud and c/f handguard, it includes the bolt and the rubber plug, I don't think too bad for $475.

I did have to have Randall do some minor smoothing of the barrel throat to get it to feed reliably, after that back at the range after I sighted it in I was able to hit 10 shots within a 1" square at 25 yds. I know no big deal but that was just my first time running some rounds thru it.

Thanks guys for the reply. I think im going to go the AR route seeing as I do already have a ruger.

          That taccom looks sweet!

I have heard that black dog make ar22 mags that work, but do the umarex and chiappa mags all work the same? I kinda like the 10/30 look from chiappa

I run a LW CMMG upper with phosphate bolt assembly on a s&w lower. Had bad FTF the first time at the range! I ordered the taccom reliability kit and since then not a singe malfunction for 1300 rounds. Also the black dog x form ten round mags are in a twenty round body, I have not had a single issue with the eight that I have.

I have both a mostly stock SS/syn 10/22 and a dedicated CMMG AR .22 rifle.

Both guns are very reliable and about equal in terms of accuracy. I end up shooting the CMMG .22 a lot more because it is just more fun and I like the ergonomics of the AR platform much more than a traditional rifle stock.

As far as magazines for the CMMG upper, I highly recommend purchasing a Better-Mag adapter which allows you to use M&P15-22 mags. It also gives you use of the bolt release/bolt hold open.

does anyone know what the difference is between the cmmg india drop in kit http://www.cmmginc.com/product_p/22ba68d.htm vs the bolt in the complete upper http://www.cmmginc.com/product_p/22b7c16.htm

From what i gather the complete upper lacks the forward assist feature, but comes with the receiver and barrel, but are the bolt the same?

Better-Mag adapters are a upgrade that is worth every penny, get one!

The CMMG conversion bolt is essentially the same as the bolt in the .22 upper except of course the conversion has the chamber adapter.

You can get a plastic piece that allows the use of the forward assist on any CMMG conversion or upper.

I like my Taccom3g ULW upper. It did need a special 22lr charging handle to feed reliably but with that part its very light and accurate. No complaints, i may even buy another one of these days.

I highly recommend the Taccom uppers.
Extremely reliable, very accurate, and the best customer service in the business.

We built ultra light rifles that came in at 3.5lbs. with red dot optic.

I built several with M.I. hand guards.
Any free float hand guard with work with the Taccom uppers.

Bolts are nickle plated and feature Tims reliability kit installed.

Here are a couple of mine.

Those are some really nice builds! Are they all light weight or are some of them heavier trainers?
