I recently started shooting 22lr and enjoy it. I usually shoot 223 and 308 but was discouraged with the price/availability of ammo this year. I bought several 22lr rifles this year and having just as much fun as I was shooting the big guns.

Yes 22s are still worth it. I love my GSG 1911 and custom build 10/22. I'll be building my 3rd AR-22 (sold 2) sometimes during the holiday. This time it'll be a SPR with a 80% lower with everything I want on it.

Definitely worth it. Ammo can be found, just not as easy as swinging by the local Wallyworld and picking up a few thousand rounds on the cheap. I've added 10k rounds to the stash in the last couple of months, average cost at $.06 per, shipping included.

Jailed a Ruger American Rimfire last week so I can dip into the pool of subsonic .22LR, which seems to be more available, and sometimes cheaper.

I was lucky enough to get a few boxes of Winchester 555 at Walmart last week. $24 a brick. They were loading up the cabinet while I was there. Anymore than that, forget it. The only reason I ever shot 22 was the Price. At 10-15 cents a round, you can keep it. Had the wife get 3 WWB 100ct 115gr 9mm for $23 a box. I have bought some ammo here and there, but have not been shooting in a year, and don't miss it. I have been hunting, and picked up another cheaper hobby. Saved me a ton of dough for sure.

Which Walmart was this? 3 Walmarts in my area have it at around $29. Even the Federal 100 value packs are more than $24 now.

He's still young. Sooner or later, I can see his collection of .22s growing bigger than mine. But, I do have to give him credit. Most of his are far cooler looking than most of mine.

Definitely worth it. My 15-22 is the must shoot on every desert trip. Mags for it are getting easier to find, I just received a 1K case of M-22 today from Cabelas so ammo isnt an issue either.

Get a .22 rifle. Watch the ammo finds regularly & be ready to buy.

i would rather shoot my $.18 per round 7.62X54R than $.15 .22LR.. besides one 7.62X54R from my 1954.4 T53 is louder than a brick of .22LR fired at same time.
even can shoot my SKS cheaper (7.62X39) than AR15 .223

.22 is still available if you know where to look. Yes, it's more expensive now. It's still some of the cheapest ammunition available. A better value for practicing trigger pull and aim is difficult to find.
