awesome, also did a google search for more input

going to get the 10/22 stainless takedown

and later get a cmmg. 22 upper.

only problem is my lower is a2 which might be a bit large for kids... but can always get another lower

I got the 15-22 to teach my grandson when he gets old enough because the collapsible stock lets me set the length of pull at different lengths as he grows. Having had to cut down stocks to fit my own kids in the past I think this is a great advantage.

        I went with the 10/22 .
My kids and myself want to do this to it. If you want to tacticool it.

I also picked up a savage rascal its a pretty cool bolt action with accu trigger.

If you can afford it then the CMMG dedicated rimfire uppers are the most fun outside of a centerfire AR15s. After owning them I never go back to the 10/22.

Both these are CMMG rimfires sitting on PSA lowers (both sold awhile back for my other hobby - cameras) and the shorty is wearing a real Eotech 517.

ok so what I'm planning is to get a stainless 10/22 takedown... or 2 lol.

Then later on get the CMMG upper for the ar15.. can use that on my current a2 build, but eventually would like to put together another lower with collapsible stock. and while I'm out it a carbine length upper...

and then and then and then lol

Ruger 10-22. Tried and true. A piece of Americana. When you look back at pictures of kids shooting their first rifle, it's usually some little wooden stock rifle. Pure nostalgia.

the 10/22 is the "harley" of aftermarket - you can make it a light plinker, you can make it a heavy bull barrel bench gun, you can mod things on it yourself, stocks GALORE etc..... you end up spending more money making it your own 10/22

the S&W 15-22 is a real good AR-15 trainer - for this reason it also works like a real ar in a .22lr that works well with many types of ammo. I like the MOE version the best.

I have both and love collecting/shooting my .22lr's (love my GSG mp5 clone too). I would get both as others have stated. Its would really be upon the OP and what his intention would be for the rifle.

if you like to MOD and trick it out with lots of options get the ruger 10/22 if you want an AR15 type with ar style aftermarket the s&w 15-22 is your winner
                I mainly shoot .22lr, 9mm,45 acp, 357 & 38, 12G, 7.62x39, .308, .223/556, 7.62x54r, 300 win mag, 8x57

You're headed in the right direction. Get the 10/22 and save for the CMMG 22 upper

                      And..?

You must be one of those guys that is still upset and pouting about the "Bill Ruger Letter" from 24 years ago.

Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it.

You can't go wrong with either. I own the 15\22 and to me the better question is which gun in your kids' arms will look better when it comes to picture time. Maybe show your kids pictures of eaxh gun and have.them choose. You.cant go wrong with either.
