Accessorizing your new 10/22

If you ever plan to stick with iron sights then I cannot recommend them highly enough. It completely changed the shoot-ability of my 10/22. (I'm not affiliated with tech-sights...just extremely pleased).

Tech sights are amazing. They are a must have for the 10/22.

Go crazy and spend $600 on the rifle or just get the hogue overmolded (ghillie green for me) and tech sights. And an extended mag release. Nothing else needed. The stock trigger is good. Seriously.

Leave the stock barrel on it. Don't do anything other than find ammo. It's far more accurate than most the shooters.

I didnt want a fancy after market stock so I had to improvise. I dropped $30 for the rail and $10 for the pts MBUS. I have a front post kit with all kinds of post but have not changed that out yet. I also ordered a skeletonized charging handle for $35. My buddy gave me an auto bolt release plate ($15) and another buddy gave me the red dot/holo ($25). I still need a riser for the red dot. Going to remove front sight and add a threaded muzzle adapter someday. Still has a way to go but is functional as is with just the dot, once removed the MBUS sights are accurate (I was hitting steel at 100yrds from standing position).

I want a hogue stock in the really nice green color that looks amazing with the blued receiver. I know I want a bipod and some sort of optic, so my only question is: would it be pointless to put things with the likes of Harris or atlas bipods and eotech or leupold scope? Or should I go with like a Simmons scope or sightmark and a utg or NcStar bipod?

I also plan to replace the buffer, charging handle and install an auto bolt release but that is probably the most I want to do

This is what I did with my new Stainless:

ATI adjustable stock, doesn't fold, the next one I order will though.
$99 delivered from ATI (they come in 3 colors I think)
inexpensive Bipod <$30
inexpensive Reflex sight <$50 I pulled the 4x42 scope off, just didn't like it and it added weight to the rifle.
Next 10/22 I get will have the iron peep sights added
This current setup fills my needs and wants, everyone has their own needs and wants though. It worked well for me at the range.

Mine looks very similar to yours. I went with the ati because i like pistol grips. If its tacticool so be it. Also that stock comes off and fits a regular ar stock. I had an extra magpul ctr and an afg. Put a cheap russian red dot on mine. Rings the steel at angeles is all i care.
Functional changes, oversized mag release and bolt handle, and extended mag catch/ mag release. Best thing i ever did.
Also replaced my old crappy promags with the bx-25s greatest 25 rd mags ever made.

A stock is a quick and easy way (not on the wallet) to accessorize you Ruger. Mine's been through 5 different configurations in two years.

I want a balanced mixture. I want something that will shoot precisely, but has the aesthetical features that I am looking at. The most tacticool looking things I want to do is replace the stock with a hogue overmolded OD stock, add a bipod, and some sort of optic. My main question though is with the aesthetic options do I go cheap or buy once cry once (mainly asking about the bipod and scope here, as I really like the stock).

I have a cheap generic bipod on my 10\22 and a simmons 4-12 scope. The best thing you can do for accuracy is change out the hammer while you're changing out the bolt release. You'll be taking it out anyways and it makes a huge difference in accuracy.

I checked the ATI site they no longer list the folding adjustable stock for the 10/22 only the NON folder!

then again, no need to go all out... personal preference-- just do more research, and take care of the necessities first (new charging bolt handle, Volquartsen parts, etc.).

Just shoot it a lot and figure out what you need to change first. You could literally build a 10/22 from scratch using an 80% receiver. Nothing holding anything back except funds. I take my 10/22 out after shooting centerfire to shoot the staples off the targets. I would say no rush on it. Upgrade it over the next few years. You should consider picking up a 22lr pistol or a second rifle. Really.

I have 4 rifles now. Not old enough to pick up a pistol yet. Going for a shotgun next. Also this is to compile ideas for gifts not for me to purchase
