    most reliable compact 22?

So Im looking for another .22
I really love shooting 22's, its just so dang fun! Dont get me wrong I have a blast with my other calibers, but lets show some love for the 22!

Anyway, Im looking for a REALLY trustworthy compact 22 pistol preferably in polymer. I love the way buckmarks shoot, but they dont fit what Im looking for at all. I really loved the feel of the p22...but that gun left a bad taste in my mouth. Im sure most of you know the drama those caused when they were new. Ive heard the M22 is just as finicky as the p22 so I'll be looking at some other pistols.

Anyone here have a sr22? It looks good, seems to be the same size as a p22, and I havent heard anything bad. Ive also heard the mosquito is the same size as a "full size gun" so that wont work...
Somthing that I can put pretty much any 22lr's in with no problems. I dont want something that NEEDS special 22's to fire and cycle correctly.

Anyway, any input welcome. Im looking at full capacity, small (p22-ish) size, with mad reliability. Please give me some advice? Thanks!

The SR22 is super-reliable, in my experience. Much more so than the P22. I have shot both and if I had buy over again I'd pick a Ruger SR22 any day. Ruger's warranty is better too.

Agreed. SR22 gets my vote too.

I really like my SR22. There were a few issues when they first came out so do a search here and on www.rimfirecentral.com and www.rugerforum.com to see what people said. If you are near a Turner's they have these for $329.98 in their spring flyer. I am not aware of any ammo that they will not shoot. I even have some Russian stuff from the 80's that functioned well not very accurate but none the less had no problems with. hope this helps.

i think an LCR 22 would be ultra reliable. but it sounds like youre leaning to semi auto

My most reliable pocket automatic 22 has been my Iver Johnson TP22. I realize they don't make them anymore but they are really fun if you can find one. I've owned the 22 Jennings. 22 Berrettas, etc. and this one has been the best. However I only shoot CCI Minimags through it. I too really like the 22 autos so I am considering getting a Ruger semi auto.

WOW!!! Overwhelming vote for sr22! Cant say I expected that. Thanks guys! I usually just look on gunbroker for new stuff that I may want to buy, find something I like the lok of and research it like crazy! Its only a 22...but when i go to the range i may bring a 45, maybe this 9 or that one. maybe a 357 instead, and sometimes maybe even a 40, but always, ALL my 22's go with lol. just too much fun! Also, I'll look into a TP22 aswell. Its something ive never heard of, i need to know more!

And thatks a million guys! A gun that will shoot ANY 22lr is just that much more fun!

Well, you said polymer so probably the SR22. Other than my Buck Mark, I have a Browning 1911-22 that I love! It's not picky about ammo, and loves the Federal bulk, just like the Buck Mark!

Have had a P22 and many of the lesser brands over the years and the SR22 is the best in many categories: Reliability, quality, versatility and fun. Recently played with several cheap lasers for it and found a Crimson Trace copy on Amazon for $59 that really is sweet! With it mounted shooting is really fun and ACCURATE. It is a smaller gun with a small grip and that requires some familiarization, and shooting with a laser requires practice, but once you've got past that you will have a real good time. In fact my SR22 is going to be kept in my bug out bag.

Based on your description I would say the SR22. It's a bit too small for my hands otherwise its really great.

Get your self a M22 from ISSC. Feels like a Glock and shoots great.

M&P22 - Fantastic. Just a pain to find mags (& very expensive)
HP22A - not bad. Never had any issues with the one I owned. I broke a second one and they sent me a new one.
