If you want to know what the Democrats are up to, just listen to what they accuse the Republicans of doing. -
Gander needs to drop some ammo. I got so restless I accidentally bought a Swiss K-31 from Classic Firearms.Comment

For 2 weeks straight everyone has been saying "tonight is the night" and i kept saying it isnt gonna happen. What you are seeing is normal for gander. Those of you who are new to Gander drops must have gotten spoiled from a few good weeks in a row. It is not always like that . There are dry spells that last weeks or a month sometimes. You cannot expect any one website to have endless supplies of 22 ammo for normal prices night after night. It just doesnt happen like that. My local gander mtn store did not get any 22 ammo at all this week, not a single box and they usually get at least some. So that combined with the website not having much, indicates they don't have very much right now company wide. Could be weeks before we see another decent dropComment

I hear you. I'm just making light of the waiting by self-consciously poking fun at my affinity for C&Rs.
Incidentally, I joined these forums a few days after the glory that was "ammopalooza", so I missed out on the buying frenzy. I've been grinding it out for the last 14 months using second-hand info from Gunbot (woohoo), so whenever the GM drops happen I'll just consider it a bonus! Glad to finally be one step ahead of where I was for the last year or so.
Fortunately Cabelas.com has a pretty reliable trickle. I drop by a local store on my way to work about once a week and the scuttlebutt is that 22lr hasn't hit the shelves in any notable amounts for a couple months. That's in contrast to around Sept-Nov when they got a good shipment fairly regularly … and even one glorious day when they had at least 400-500 boxes of Federal Automatch, CCI Minimags, and Winchester Super X. Just shows how sporadic and regional the "return" of 22lr is.Last edited by BinaryBoris; 02-21-2014, 7:10 PM.Comment

rumor round here is that walmart has had a fairly steady trickle... but you got to get up early and be there when the store opens on the right day, yadda yadda yadda... I have yet to be able to make that work out for me so far. the best I have done to date is the 2K rounds I should receive next week from Cabela's, and that's only because of the fine work others have done here.
On a side note, I swung by the Turner's Grand Opening at a bit after 6 this am and just kept on going... there were prolly bout 500 people in line... heard later, when I dropped by at about noon, from one of the Turner's mucky mucks that the 1000 boxes of .22lr they stocked was gone before the end of the line made it into the store. He said they had people already lined up at about 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon. I shook my head, laughed and said that those that did so earned the right to buy the 2 whole boxes of federal 525 count the hard way (at $33 + tax... each).Comment

To hell with Wally World and their games! We get a lot more ammo around here without leaving the comforts of my residence, that alone is a saving than running to all the Wally Worlds.rumor round here is that walmart has had a fairly steady trickle... but you got to get up early and be there when the store opens on the right day, yadda yadda yadda... I will be honest, I did that in the beginning and it got old very quick!
A friend of mine turned me on to reloading my ammo and now reload all my 223, 243, 30-06, 6.8 spc, 22-250, 9mm, 40 cal, 380, 45apc's.
If I could reload 22's I would. The ER is for emERgencies sigpic !!!Comment

you will get no argument from me... I happened by my local WW on Thursday at about 9 am and asked about .22 LR... was told I missed out on the 20 boxes of 500 count by about 3 hours... they open at 6... LOL! I dint miss out on nuffin!Comment

If it's in the condition they claim, then I consider it a pretty good price (having a C&R license helps a bit too). I've had a quality Swiss straight pull (insert Beavis and Butthead laugh here) on my wish list for about a year, considering the reasonably priced ammo, solid workmanship, great accuracy, and historical "cool" factor. It also seems like they are getting hard to find, so I was happy.Last edited by BinaryBoris; 02-21-2014, 8:01 PM.Comment
