Does anyone know what the difference is between the "AR Tactical" .22lr by CCI versus the regular mini-mags?

I have a box of each type in front of me. Can't really tell the difference except for the shape of the bullet

As far as I can see, both are:

      -40 grain projectiles
      -1200 FPS
You can give peace a chance...

We'll cover you if it doesn't work out...

I've never been able to get my hands on any so I can't say how it shoots. CCI link comparing the 2 below.

using that, theres a slight difference between the velocity and energy.

          Velocity, ft/sec
          LOAD NO. CALIBER MUZZLE 25 50 75 100
          0030 22 Long Rifle 1235 1156 1092 1040 998
          0953 22 Long Rifle 1200 1119 1056 1005 964

          Energy, ft-lbs
          LOAD NO. CALIBER MUZZLE 25 50 75 100
          0030 22 Long Rifle 135 119 106 96 88
          0953 22 Long Rifle 128 111 99 90 82
0030 are mini-mags and 0953 are the AR tactical.

Thanks roger1022 - I jumped on ordering 5 boxes when it popped up and wasn't sure of the difference between this and regular mini-mags. I don't have the MP15-22 or any of the other tacticool .22lr rifles.

I'm happy as long as these will go the 10/22 and SR22.

            Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the link GoodahSP. The specs look very similar.

No problem. Upon closer inspection, it seems that the "Tactical" ammo is a catchphrase for the mall ninjas. It's the marketing dept saying this is bulk ammo and quality of the cases reflect that. The Mini-Mags are somewhat like their premium ammo. Both should run fine in your guns.

Thanks Mizouse. They're pretty similiar, so as long as it feeds the SR22 and 10/22...

Didn't say. It said taxes and shipping to be determined.

Last time I ordered it, it was about $112.00 total to San Diego County.
